Inseparable from me, The self-arisen, spontaneously accomplished, clear light appearance, If relying on the path of manifest lamp, By grasping the key point, one will succeed in the definitive secret doctrine. This is the victorious vidyadhara lineage's, The river of intention, the stainless rays of light, The profound and precious instructions gathered in the heart-ocean, Is the flawless doctrine of the Early Translation Great Perfection. Having understood this, do not create confusion by mixing it with other paths, Know for certain that this alone is the ultimate fruition of all vehicles. By the merit of this well-spoken word, May all beings who have strayed from the state of primordial self-awareness, Through the kindness of this vajra essence, Achieve the spontaneous accomplishment of Samantabhadra's great bliss! Written by Jampal Gyepai Dorje on the twelfth day of the eleventh month of the Earth Ox year. Good! Good! Good! Mangalam! ༈ །། The Instructions on the Three Key Bonds of Practice: The Oral Teachings of Garab Dorje. Namo Manjushri Jñanasattvaya. (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思) This awareness that is not established as being something, Since the way self-appearance arises is unimpeded in any way, All phenomena of existence appear as one's own mind. If one knows the way things are, there is no benefit or harm, acceptance or rejection. If one does not know and grasps at duality, then relying on one's own appearance, One experiences various kinds of happiness and suffering, benefit and harm. Therefore, to ascertain the meaning of this as it is, Align the guru's instructions with one's own experience. First, cherish recognizing one's own mind, one's own nature. Even if one knows the way things are, if one is overpowered by the strong force of the clinging mind of beginningless habit, The afflictions and fears and sufferings of the deluded mind's habits will not subside even slightly, Therefore, by all means, on the state of one's own mind's nature, Again and again, familiarize yourself, perfect the skill of gathering all skillful manifestations and play into the power of awareness. To make this the heart of practice, Is a crucial point that cannot be dispensed with in the intermediate period. Therefore, always, day and night, With mindfulness that guards one's own mind, one's own nature, Without separation, single-pointedly, do not miss the key point, Otherwise, the waves of thoughts, the meaningless suffering of oneself, This appearance will not diminish even slightly, Therefore, be sure to firmly control your own mind! Thus, on the footprints of repeated familiarization, When one has gained the confidence of awareness that freely controls self-appearance, There is nothing among the phenomena of existence that cannot be controlled, Free from fear, suffering, afflictions, and harm.

Like a fearless lion reaching the summit of a snowy mountain, All appearances and existences arise as the pure land of the Dharmakaya. The very moment of arising is liberated within itself, The yogi who has attained stability is truly happy! Recognition, complete function, and attainment of stability are the three, The three key bonds of yogic practice. The person who practices in this way is joyful! Thus spoke the advice of Manjushri Vajra, may it be virtuous! On the 16th day of the 11th month of the Fire Bird year. Mangalam! The treatise on examining the key points of nature, without bondage or liberation, called "Looking at Mind as the Mirror of the Sky," is presented. Homage to Self-Awareness, Kuntuzangpo, and Manjushri! This awareness, without being established as existent, Is self-born wisdom, free from beginning and end. When seen through the path of the guru's instructions, It is the co-emergent wisdom that is the meaning of what is indicated. This is the nature or the way of abiding of the mind, This way of abiding cannot be altered by the mind. This is the dharmata of all dharmas, Transcending cause and condition, free from change in the three times. The innate nature that cannot be defined by the mind, All kinds of dharmas are equally perfected in it. The play of this, the eight consciousnesses, appear as the mind, Various appearances of samsara and nirvana arise in the mind. The extent of arising is self-liberated in the ground of its nature, In its nature, there is no benefit or harm, acceptance or rejection. Thus, without knowing the way of abiding of its nature, One clings to its play as self, and increases grasping and fixation. In that state, one experiences various kinds of happiness and suffering, benefit and harm, Although they appear, they are not established as such, But by the power of one's own thoughts, one creates benefit and harm. From beginningless time until now, Whatever happiness or suffering one experiences in this samsara, It is not established as such, but is the magic of the emptiness of one's own mind, The uninterrupted appearance of oneself is merely a magical illusion. The nature of the mind is clear and empty, without separation, Therefore, the faults and qualities of samsara and nirvana cannot stain it, Even if one experiences the suffering of the uninterrupted hell, There is not even a little bit of damage caused by it. Even if one experiences as much happiness as there is in existence, There is not even a little bit of change in this nature caused by it. The faults and qualities of experiencing happiness and suffering, Are not attached like painting colors on the sky. Just as a jewel is changed by colors, In that temporary state, it appears as such and one clings to it as such. By the power of thoughts, there are various designations, And various names of philosophical systems are proclaimed. All the dharmas of the mind that are established by the mind, Self-
