Moreover, considering that each of these also has internal differences, such as eye consciousness having various different appearances like grasping blue and grasping yellow, analyze this. As it is said in the sutra: Form is like a mass of foam, feeling is like a bubble in water, perception is like a mirage, formations are like a plantain tree, consciousness is like an illusion, so taught the Kinsman of the Sun. As it is said. When you have generated a special certainty that it is so, remain in that state of non-forgetfulness for as long as it lasts. When that state fades, shift to contemplating impermanence, without deliberately prolonging it. All things, at the moment of their self-establishment, do not remain for a second instant, but change immediately. From the moment they first arise until the final instant of their cessation, they are constantly arising and ceasing in every instant. Therefore, whether it vanishes in an instant like lightning, or remains for an eon like the container world, as long as it is a compounded thing, it is merely a sequential arrangement of momentary arising and ceasing. Understand it like the flow of water and the tip of a flame, and settle your mind there. All container and sentient worlds undergo the process of formation and destruction. Outwardly, there are the changes of the four seasons; inwardly, there are the changes of old age, youth, and adolescence, as well as high and low, prosperity and decline, happiness and suffering, etc. From various perspectives, contemplate all compounded things that you have seen and heard, both in yourself and in others, changing like lightning, bubbles, and clouds, until you have generated a clear certainty about this phenomenon. When that thought fades, examine this contaminated aggregate, which is a collection of various things and is constantly moving without remaining for a single instant. Leaving aside its continuity and grossness, even in terms of each individual instant, the suffering that is currently experienced is the suffering of suffering. Although the nature of that instant appears to be happiness, it is still the suffering of change, which vanishes in an instant and is constantly changing. Whether you are currently experiencing happiness, suffering, or neutrality, it is like poisonous food; there is not a single instant that will not become a cause of suffering, because each subsequent instant arises in dependence on the preceding instant. The preceding instan

Even if a single instant is incomplete, it will hinder the production of fruit. Therefore, countless instants are also the cause of suffering, which is the suffering of formation. Like this, being related to the three sufferings in various ways, the contaminated aggregates contained by the three realms, like a pit of fire and a mire of impurity, until the firm conviction that it is the root of suffering has not arisen, contemplate repeatedly. Furthermore, the sufferings of each of the six realms, such as the heat and cold of hell, and whatever becomes the object of sight and hearing, such as the repulsive things that come to mind, without determining the order or amount, contemplate as much as possible the magnitude of the aspects of suffering that exist in samsara. Like this, the various, numerous, unbearable sufferings that repeatedly occur until the noble path is attained, without any limit, arise from this continuum of contaminated aggregates of clinging. Think and discern from the root up to ignorance, so that correct conviction arises. Conviction arises naturally, and there is power to remain in that state of mind. Contemplate in this way as much as possible. When the power of discursive thoughts begins to fade, through the conviction guided by the previous three analyses, these five conditioned aggregates are impermanent, diverse, and of the nature of suffering. To think that there is a person, a self, or an "I" in this is completely false. There is no inherently existent self, person, or "I" here. Just as a person with clear eyes knows that there is no snake on the variegated rope placed in front of them, the self-grasping that does not examine or discern the aggregates of dust and momentary continuums and collections, through the eye of wisdom, one will see the absence of self. In general, the absence of self is the main thing to be realized, but it is not necessary to emphasize only that. By emphasizing the previous three analyses and contemplating, this later one can be easily understood without difficulty through its power. Therefore, also meditate on this conviction of the absence of self until it does not disappear. When other discursive thoughts begin to arise, and without letting them control you, just like before, starting from examining the many aggregates, repeatedly practice it in your mind.
