Ah! If it were just a small harm, why even mention it? The more one sees the faults of conditioned samsara, the more one recognizes unconditioned nirvana as peaceful, cool, and unparalleled. Second, the extent to which it arises in the mindstream: When one becomes accustomed to naturally understanding one's own and others' five aggregates and all conditioned phenomena as being multiple, impermanent, suffering, and without self, even without deliberate effort, all appearances become loose and scattered, then one can suppress afflictions. Because one is free from the waves of afflictions, at that time, the clear and unpolluted lake of mind, in harmony with freedom and purity, can touch upon calm abiding samadhi. If one observes the reality of the one-pointed mind, one will see it even more clearly. This is the common path of the three vehicles for initially entering the path. Third, the necessity: When all phenomena, which arise dependently and are like illusions, have not arisen from the beginning, therefore, in the emptiness of selflessness of phenomena, one is free from the two extremes of existence and non-existence. The realm of undifferentiated equality is what is to be realized on the Mahayana path. The supremely luminous and clear realm of phenomena is also the essence of the Sugata. If one realizes it, one will achieve the great nirvana that does not abide in the extremes of samsara and nirvana. That is supremely pure and blissful, the great unconditioned, completely constant. It is the qualities of the great self, the unsurpassed paramita. The meaning of the supreme, definitive, secret essence, the co-emergent great bliss realm of meaning, ultimately converges on self-arisen wisdom itself. Within that, all phenomena are complete. Through the guru's pith instructions, the Dzogchen system directly introduces it. Therefore, the sutras and tantras of the Mahayana, as a preliminary to the common path training, are to shatter the shell of conditioned delusion. This path of individual investigation is the best. First, through the power of individual investigation, one shatters the signs of the arising of afflictions. Having ascertained that the five aggregates are empty, one can be free from attachment to the three realms. Then, gradually, all objects of focus, in the emptiness of near pacification, without longing for abandonment or cultivation, one will eventually be free from all clinging. By taming with unattached compassion, like a bird in the sky of the dharmadhatu, one who wanders fearlessly in the ocean of existence will attain the supreme state of the Buddha's son. Thus, as in the words of the noble ones, as a preliminary to the path of calm abiding and insight, tame all the actions of the mind.

Practice. Explaining the key points of the three vehicles' path. How accustomed are you to individually examining the actions of the mind? The more you do so, the fewer the afflictions. The more diluted the afflictions become, the easier it is to accomplish calm abiding. Just as gold refined by fire is extremely easy to hammer, so too is a mind without attachment. Some people, for a thousand years of the gods, give away all the necessities to the Three Jewels, while others, in just a snap of the fingers, contemplate that all conditioned phenomena are suffering, impermanent, empty, and without self. The sutras say that the merit of the latter surpasses that of the former immeasurably. The four lines of the Mahayana Dharma, reciting one line is equivalent to reciting eighty-four thousand collections of Dharma. Therefore, by explaining this Dharma and meditating well on its meaning, one can properly meditate on the essential points of hundreds of millions of sutras. Effortlessly obtain the treasury of profound and vast wisdom, and quickly attain liberation. By the virtue of this explanation, may all beings in this degenerate age, who are excessively tormented by faults, through the power of the nectar of the unattached Dharma, touch the state of peace. Written by Mipham Jamyang Namgyal on the 18th day of the middle month of the Iron Rabbit year. May it be auspicious! Homage to the Guru (Tibetan: ན་མོ་གུ་རུ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: गुरु, Sanskrit Romanization: guru, Literal Chinese meaning: गुरु). When practicing the guidance of taming behavior, settle in a secluded place, endowed with the conduct of meditation. By contemplating the difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowments, generate joy in practice. Visualize the teacher, the Bhagavan Shakyamuni, above your crown, appearing together with the sangha of the Great and Small Vehicles. Like the seven branches in the "Samantabhadra's Prayer," such as "All that I can do...", and make the aspiration that on this seat, the practice sequence of taming behavior may arise in the minds of myself and all sentient beings. With intense devotion and reverence, pray from the depths of your heart. For the benefit of all sentient beings, may I attain the precious state of complete and perfect enlightenment. For this purpose, I will practice the sequence of taming behavior, generating such intention. First, visualize in front of you the object to which you are attached, or if not, you can visualize anything at will. For example, just like dissecting a corpse in a charnel ground, starting from the right eye, separate the skin, flesh, bones, internal organs, and impurities one by one, and then...
