The five objects of knowledge and the two Compendiums, and the eight categories of treatises composed by the great master Vasubandhu, known as the Second Omniscient One, total twenty. The five objects of knowledge are: the object's own entity; the collection that ascertains it as if explaining its meaning; the basis collection that shows how to collect them into the three baskets; the collection of names that specifically shows the categories of defilement and purification; and the collection of doors of differentiated explanation that shows how to explain them, these are the five. Within the object's own entity, there are seventeen internal distinctions, such as: "the mind-ground with five consciousnesses, with and without investigation, the samadhi-ground with investigation but without discursive thought, the ground of mind and no-mind without samadhi, the ground of hearers and self-realizers of hearing, thought, and meditation, the bodhisattva-ground with remainder and without remainder." The Compendium of Common Vehicle, the Abhidharma-samuccaya, and the Compendium of the Great Vehicle, the Mahāyānasaṃgraha, these two are the two Compendiums. The eight categories of Prakaraṇa are: the Thirty Verses that show all phenomena are only mind; the Twenty Verses that establish it with reason; the Pañcaskandhaprakaraṇa that shows the rationality of the five aggregates, the basis to be examined; the Vyakhyayukti that explains the way of listening to and explaining the Dharma; the treatise that shows the rationality of the actions of the three doors; and the Siddhiprakaraṇa, these five are the five treatises composed in one's own system. Added to the two Distinctions and the explanation of the Mahāyānasaṃgraha, there are eight in total. Furthermore, this master has also composed many treatises such as the Abhidharmakośa and the commentary on the Daśabhūmikasūtra. In short, the scriptures of the two great chariots are like the lifeblood of the profound and vast path, and it is necessary to know that there is no contradiction in the key points of their views and that they must be united. Represented by these, the many treatises composed by Śāntideva, Candrakīrti, Guṇaprabha, Vimuktisena, Śāntarakṣita, Guṇamati, etc., are all treatises of commentary. In terms of mantra, the so-called three cycles of Bodhicitta commentary are the Great Commentary Vimalaprabha, the Vajrahṛdayālaṃkāra, and the Hevajra-stotra-ṭīkā, and others, such as the seven or eight groups of Siddhas composed by the great lords of accomplishment, and the five or six cycles of Vajra Dohas, etc., represent the many treatises that explain the intent of mantra, and their names are written in Sanskrit at the beginning of each text, so I will not mention them here.
