Having done that, the king got angry and said, "Cut off this fellow's head!" and left. When he came back there again, that person greeted him with six steps, and the king lost his color, the ground cracked, and he was terrified, begged for forgiveness, and made him convert, that is the story. Nāgasena. As for the group of nāgas: The king of the northern city of Gsegma, named Dragon's Seal, regretted killing his father for the sake of the kingdom, so he abandoned the kingdom, confessed his sins before the Teacher, and generated the mind of enlightenment. He was granted ordination and received full ordination. By staying in retreat, he purified his sins and attained the state of an arhat, and became a teacher of the Dharma to gods and humans, that is the story. Gopa-ka, also called the concealer or the cowherd: The head of a householder's family had five sons, the eldest of whom was named Gragpa (Fame), who was fond of and lived in the midst of a group of women playing. One night, when the women were asleep, he saw their naked bodies in disarray, like corpses, and due to his past virtues, he developed the perception of a charnel ground. He put on precious shoes and went out at night, saying "I am the master," and wandered around. Then, he went to the presence of the Tathāgata Dgebzang, who was residing in the temple. He left his shoes on the bank of a dangerous river and crossed over, and the Victorious One taught him the Dharma, and while adorned with ornaments and sitting on that seat, he attained the state of an arhat. The Blessed One said, "Even while adorned with ornaments, practice the Dharma." and so on, he spoke these verses and became the property of a bhikṣu, that is the story. Later, his younger brothers also went forth and attained the state of an arhat, and those five were known as the Near Five Groups. Abhedya (Immovable): The son of the Brahmin Pilindra of Badsa in the royal palace, also known as Srungdwang (Guardian Empowerment), went forth from the presence of the Victorious One and attained the state of an arhat, and was known by the name Immovable. When he said to the river Ganges, "Good lady, stop!" it stopped flowing. When the attendants offered by Gzugs-can-nying-po were harmed by robbers, he protected them with his magical powers, and thus he was known as having great magical powers, that is the story. These are condensed from the "Lives of the Elders" composed by Chim Namkha-dragpa, and the various biographies of those elders are clearly explained in the Sutras and Vinaya.
