Since there is no mere emptiness that abandons clarity or appearance, emptiness is not the nature of reality, because it is an emptiness that is always separate from appearance. Therefore, the nature of mind, emptiness and luminosity, is also similar to that. Therefore, in reality, all phenomena have never gone beyond the pure realm of reality, luminosity. Then, how could the two obscurations and impurity exist? Impurity is not established from the perspective of reality, but is considered to be pure in nature. Although all phenomena are objectless, luminous, and pure, due to not realizing this, the grasping mind clings to various appearances and is dominated by conceptual thoughts, thus appearing as impure. Therefore, considering the appearance of gradually purifying the impure confusion on the five paths, if we look at the appearance of progressing upwards in the manner of obscurations gradually purifying and the qualities of the realm of reality gradually manifesting, although all paths appear as impermanent and conditioned, in reality, the five paths are the means of purifying the aspects of conventional obscurations, and are therefore considered to be the cause of separation from the realm of reality. The realm of reality is constant, free from decrease and increase, faults are completely exhausted, qualities are completely perfected, free from decrease and increase, and there is no change in the three times. Therefore, if measured from the perspective of reality, it is completely pure and immovable in all three times. If measured from the perspective of appearance, there are purity and impurity, samsara and nirvana, etc., existing separately. In the tenets of sutra and tantra, the grounds and paths, samsara and nirvana, what is to be abandoned and what is to be adopted, etc., all dualistic phenomena are established by convention, and it seems that they are not established by the two-in-one reality. Therefore, the nature of reality and wisdom, etc., which are unconditioned, are permanent, but the characteristics and conditioned phenomena, consciousness, must be acknowledged as impermanent. Although there are no dualistic phenomena such as permanence and impermanence in the nature of reality itself, if established according to convention, then space and other non-existents are established as unconditioned and permanent, and the nature of reality transcends the limits of non-existence, therefore the terms "great unconditioned" and "great permanent" are correct and meaningful. Fire Horse year, September 13th. Water Tiger year, September 19th, sudden spontaneous recollection at noon. The innate mind luminosity that other schools consider requires only the part of clarity and awareness, without being contaminated by grasping, so it is called subtle mind. Alaya is the basis for holding the seeds of samsara and nirvana, so it is conceptual.

It has already been defiled. The undefiled mind must be free from obscurations, and it must be acknowledged that it does not generate the cause of karma and afflictions. From beginningless time, it arises and persists in a continuum similar to its own kind, and it must be regarded as the inexpressible of samsara and nirvana. Because there is this mind, samsara and nirvana arise, therefore it is the cause of samsara and nirvana. Because it has clarity and awareness, it grasps everything, and if one clings to the grasper and the grasped, samsara is established. Meditate on that emptiness free from grasper and grasped, its defiled parts are purified, and ultimately perfect complete enlightenment is attained. That is not momentary. Because it is mind, there must be the all-pervasive and other samsaric phenomena. Because there is one in the continuum of each sentient being, it seems impossible not to acknowledge that the continua are distinct. If that is the case, the Mind-Only school's self-awareness and self-illumination, which are empty of grasper and grasped, are easily established. The dependent nature, the alaya-vijñana, is also easily established as that. That does not need to be truly established, because the essence can be emptiness. In emptiness, self-awareness must be primordial luminosity wisdom. However, that is conditioned, because the aspect of clarity and awareness is always conditioned. For example, just as the union of empty vase and true emptiness has no conditioned object, but it must be said that the vase is conditioned. It seems that it must be said that it always persists, and it must also be thought that the essence is not defiled. When luminosity arises, recognizing it, or saying recognizing one's own nature, or recognizing it through the circumstances of the path, therefore it becomes the basis for liberation, and does not become the basis for confusion. In this way, it is established like the Mind-Only school. When it meditates on true emptiness, does it meditate on emptiness created by conceptual thought, or does it meditate on the meaning of the innate beyond conceptual thought? If it is the former, it is impossible for that not to be defiled. If it is the latter, is it meditating on Heshang (a monk) or meditating on what? Furthermore, it is asked, that mind-nature is pure like the sky, without origin, what is said about this conditioned phenomenon that does not fit? Because the five winds, lights, and rays that exist simultaneously with the undefiled mind accomplish the form body, it must be thought that the innate mind and the five winds, lights, and rays are the powerful cause of the two bodies. These seem to be the ultimate thoughts of other schools, naturally arising. From the aspect of this being without defilement, it can be said to be self-arisen wisdom, and from the aspect of constant permanence, it can be said that wisdom is permanent, and because there is no defilement of grasper and grasped, it can be called wisdom.
