Gross mind or wisdom, and Subtle mind are extremely contradictory, therefore they are different. Furthermore, does this subtle mind exist or not when the mind's gross conceptualization has not ceased? If it does not exist, then it is not the original mind, because its continuity does not exist. If it exists, does it exist together with the gross mind, or separately? If it is like the first case, this mind-consciousness is both subtle without gross conceptualization, and also gross with existence, thus admitting both the presence and absence of gross conceptualization in one dharma is a wonderful admission of gathering contradictions on one basis, this amazing new Dzogchen is astonishing. If they exist separately, then this must exist separately from the gross, which arises from the four conditions, because different things are due to different causes. In that case, the two streams of mind must have the same function in the stream of one person. If you think that there is no fault even if they exist, like the eight consciousnesses, then the alaya-vijnana of the eight consciousnesses is the clear and non-conceptual cause of all sentient beings, and the mind distinguishes all internal and external things, and the five senses distinguish separately from the perspective of the sense organs as the dominant condition, although they are distinguished in this way, internally they are one stream held by the consciousness of one person, while the subtle and gross minds are not merely states of abandoning the gross and becoming subtle, or abandoning the subtle and becoming gross, but the subtle mind is always subtle and has never experienced grossness, and the gross mind has never experienced subtlety, so the two minds must exist simultaneously. Just like the gross mind of a person when they are manifestly awake, and the subtle mind during dreams, although one can know through one's own experience, how is the existence of such a subtle mind proven, through direct perception, inference, or scripture? If learning the subtle mind, practicing emptiness, etc., is something that can be grasped, then why can't the gross object also be grasped? If it cannot be grasped, then how can it determine that all dharmas, such as the six internal and external sources, are empty? If it cannot, then how can it realize emptiness? Therefore, what is the use of having it practice emptiness? Therefore, wanting such an original mind is a very big mistake. Furthermore, the difference between consciousness and wisdom is that conceptualization in the three spheres is a cognitive obscuration, therefore, the method of abandoning it is non-conceptual wisdom, which is the ultimate wisdom of the path of learning, without interruption until the end of the continuum.

Now, the Vajra Holder, having completely destroyed the habitual tendencies of dualistic appearances, from then on becomes a Buddha who never possesses the stains of the two obscurations. Therefore, all minds and mental factors included in the three realms do not go beyond conceptualization, so they are called consciousness. As it is said in the Two Truths: "Mind and mental factors are of the nature of the three realms, and the appearance of fabrication is consciousness." Furthermore, the teacher Dignāga said: "There is no phenomenon called samsara that does not arise from conceptualization. By being free from that conceptualization, you are completely liberated." So it is said. In short, conceptualization is consciousness, and non-conceptualization is wisdom, so the difference between the two is very great. In the stage of ultimate wisdom, the flow of mind and mental factors is completely stopped. As it is said in the tantras: "The Buddhas of the three times are free from mind." And as it is said in the sutras: "Peaceful wisdom, the inconceivable secret of the Tathagata's mind, is free from mind, intellect, and consciousness, and does not abandon the state of samadhi. This is the inconceivable secret of the Tathagata's mind." It also says: "Free from words, not stained by the path of speech, such is the nature of reality, its essence is like space. The flow of mind and intellect is completely liberated. Supreme, most wonderful, know it to be holy. These meanings cannot be understood by letters; the wise understand them. Sentient beings who have pleased the Buddhas of the past, if they hear this Dharma, will develop faith." And as it is said in the Entering the Middle Way: "When the mind ceases, it is the direct realization of the Buddha." So it is said. Therefore, when even the habitual tendencies of dualistic appearance do not exist, how could there be dualistic appearance or consciousness with a grasper and a grasped? Non-conceptual wisdom exists, because the Buddha's mind is great wisdom. He knows all aspects of phenomena clearly, even without conceptualization. Therefore, such wisdom is not called mind, because it is wisdom that transcends mind. If it is labeled as mind in terms of knowing, then later the differences between great mind, original mind, and clear light mind will be explained. Because there is no ordinary conceptual mind, no grasper and grasped, and no appearance of the eight aggregates of consciousness, it is non-conceptual wisdom, it is without dualistic appearance.
