It is the self-nature clear light. Unmade, uncorrected, spontaneously accomplished. Because it dwells well in the great Bodhi. It is free from all actions and efforts. The nature of mind is self-nature clear light. Like its own nature, unadorned. In the great clear light of all. The nature of mind is like a wish-fulfilling jewel. All sentient beings in the three realms. Although dwelling within themselves, they do not see it. It is like milk and butter. Only the wise can extract the butter. Thus it is said. Similarly, in the Guhyagarbha Tantra, it says: The nature of mind without a basis. Etc. Establishing the nature of mind. And in the Ashes of Illusion, it says: The nature of great bliss. It is not a thing, nor is it a non-thing. It is not even aimed at in the Middle Way. Therefore, it is taught as the Great Bliss Mahamudra. And in the Guhyasamaja Tantra, it says: I and the aggregates and consciousness. The Dharma is selfless, equal in nature. One's own mind is unborn from the beginning. It is the characteristic of emptiness. Thus it is said. In the Hevajra Tantra, it says: This samadhi is very subtle. Like the center of the vajra sky. Thus it is said. Here there is no beginning, middle, or end. There is no existence, no nirvana. There is no self, nor is there another. This is the supreme great bliss. Thus it is said. In short. In the Elephant King's Delight Tantra, it says: The nature of mind is the great dharmadhatu sky. All dharmas are pure, primordially clear light. The yogi's own nature is beyond words and thoughts. Always I prostrate to the equal Bodhicitta. Thus it is said, if one can establish this, it is the path of Dzogchen. Nowadays, some Gelugpa scholars and practitioners, when practicing the mind isolation of the five stages of Guhyasamaja, seize upon the words of others at the time of clear light, saying that the innate mind is the subtle mind. And based on this, they introduce the rigpa of Dzogchen as the subtle mind. Because the subtle mind is a conditioned phenomenon born from four causes, they say that Dzogchen is a conditioned phenomenon. There are also people who echo this, which is a very inappropriate statement. In general, the innate mind is the self-nature clear light of the mind, which is unconditioned. It is the Tathagatagarbha, and the idea of clinging to the conditioned mind is extremely mistaken. The clear light of the completion stage of Guhyasamaja is explained as a conditioned phenomenon, so characteristics will emerge.

If there is anything, let them handle it themselves. Although I don't want to argue, it is absolutely not right to mix it with Dzogchen. Because all the tantras, oral transmissions, and instructions of Dzogchen, as well as the teachings of Omniscient Longchenpa (Klong-chen-pa), and the successive lineages of Kagyu (bka' ma) and Terma (gter ma) lamas, until now, have been widely known for introducing rigpa (awareness) as the nature of reality, which is unconditioned, clear and empty, and non-dual. If one goes beyond this scope and explains it as a subtle conditioned phenomenon, it will not only not help the Dzogchen teachings, but will also cause great harm. If some people deny that Dzogchen is not Dharma, it will not cause harm. But if one creates the precedent of Dzogchen being conditioned, then people today will not be able to truly recognize rigpa, will not be able to understand the key points of the tantras and oral transmissions, and those who like to follow the crowd, are narrow-minded, and talk big will also echo this extremely unreasonable statement, which may be a sign of the degenerate age. In general, even some of the bad customs of the Tirthikas (non-Buddhists) are believed by some. As it is said in the Pramāṇavārttika (Commentary on Valid Cognition): "There are also those who echo this, therefore the evil darkness will pervade." Especially in this degenerate age, the black forces of demons who hinder the Dharma will shift their targets, and many situations will arise where people doubt the Dharma. In particular, since it is difficult to understand the profound secret teachings, one should not speak carelessly. The Gongpa Düpa Sutra (Sutra of the Union of Intentions) says: "For the profound meaning of the secret essence, if someone's wisdom is not mature, who strives to proclaim it, wouldn't they live if they didn't speak? Similarly, those who have conduct, practice, and contemplation, what harm is there if they do not practice before they have gained a definite understanding of the meaning?" It also says: "Why in the future ages, will the cunning and artificial secret words disturb the stainless secret teachings, leading to the alteration of the Buddha's words, the abandonment of the scriptures, and the flourishing of meaningless and heretical teachings?" It also says: "Like a blind person entering a road, measuring the steps with their mind, and running on the wrong path, relying only on conjecture will lead to fixed conclusions." Like this, although some people have heard many scriptures and have had some slight experiences of meditation, they will encounter this situation because they have not truly recognized rigpa through the ear-whispered instructions. The innermost essence of the Dzogchen view is as vast and boundless as the sky.
