Regarding this. Because the knowing mind and the known emptiness are not inherently dualistic. Therefore, it is the great union unconditioned. Although the nature of reality has no causes, conditions, arising, or ceasing, so it is unconditioned, but it is not a non-existent unconditioned. Originally without birth, the great clarity of awareness, the impermanent three times are equal in the momentary arising and ceasing of conditioned things, without thought, without any elaboration or characteristics. Thus, in all three times, there is no change from it, like the sky, it is originally existent, and is called the original mind. The mind of conditioned momentary arising and ceasing is temporary, so it cannot be the original. Considering this, the sutras also say: consciousness is impermanent, wisdom is permanent. Saying that the original mind is permanent, because at all times it does not move from its own nature, so it is called permanent. Because it abandons all substantial characteristics and elaborations, permanence and impermanence are the path of words, which are the distinctions of dualistic dharmas. If one measures the nature of oneself, which is free from all elaborations of characteristics, permanence and impermanence transcend the realm of thought. Similarly, existence and non-existence, permanence and annihilation, and so on, are dualistic dharmas, because they transcend all characteristics, those who realize the suchness of mind, the yogis, from their own knowledge, such as examples and reasons, are not measurable by dualistic perception. Therefore, it is called beyond thought and expression, beyond intellect, and so on. Whoever realizes this meaning, that is wisdom. Again, some say, does the basic original mind realize emptiness, or does it not realize emptiness? For the basic original mind, there is no saying of realizing or not realizing emptiness, because its own nature is emptiness and luminosity, or it is the union of awareness and emptiness, the nature of reality that is not defiled by any conceptual thought. That is it, that is the suchness, and the dharmadhatu, it is not a place for saying whether it is realized or not. Realizing or not realizing emptiness is not established on the basis, because the basis abides in the suchness to be realized, after the basis appears, the basis is realized as it is, and not realizing it leads to liberation and delusion, so it is necessary to rely on this to establish Buddhas and sentient beings. Therefore, when the consciousness of the knowing mind realizes the basic original mind, the one who realizes it with this.

It is called realizing emptiness. Those sentient beings who have not realized it, although they have the nature of innate mind, have not realized it. When they cling to the duality of the eight consciousnesses as real, it is called non-realization. Thus, from the basis arises the display of the basis, the arrangement of samsara and nirvana, and there are the terms of delusion and liberation. However, in terms of the basis alone, liberation, delusion, Buddhahood, sentient beings, realization, and non-realization cannot be applied to it. The basis, the innate mind, is clear light, and samsara and nirvana are not established. Since the characteristics of duality have never existed, it is the indivisible clarity and emptiness, the great clear light of original purity, the single bindu. However, because anything can arise from the nature of clear light, this is called the basis. When the display of potential arises, there are two paths of liberation and delusion on top of the display of the basis. Therefore, it is said that the basis is one, but the paths are two. Thus, Longchen Rabjam said that the display of the basis is the basis of delusion, and original purity is the place of liberation. Therefore, on the basis of original purity, there is no difference between realization and non-realization. From the point of view of appearance, from ordinary beings to Buddhahood, abandonment and realization must become better and better. Moreover, it is only possible for the eight consciousnesses in the continuum of the meditator to meditate with intelligence. In particular, the mind consciousness must directly recognize the meaning of empowerment as the basis. Not only Dzogchen, but all that is measured by the wisdom of hearing, thinking, and meditating on any of the nine vehicles is mainly the mind consciousness. Therefore, there is nothing that is not meditated on by the mind consciousness. However, the extent to which the mind consciousness meditates does not necessarily have to be the mind consciousness. For example, even if emptiness is meditated on by the mind consciousness, emptiness is not the mind consciousness, but is the object of the mind consciousness. Similarly, when the mind consciousness meditates on Dzogchen, it is meditating on the nature of the mind, the union of clarity and emptiness, not the mind consciousness, which is one of the six consciousnesses. If one meditates on emptiness and selflessness with the mind consciousness, then emptiness and selflessness do not necessarily have to be the mind consciousness. Likewise, when one realizes the unborn nature of the mind, or when the mind consciousness itself realizes that it is unborn, although there is no other mind consciousness separate from the unborn, the unborn does not transform into the mind consciousness and compounded phenomena, just like that. Thus, when one is certain that one's own mind is unborn, the mind consciousness itself directly sees that it is unborn from the beginning, and apart from the unborn, the mind consciousness and
