Now, dedicating the roots of virtue to unsurpassed Bodhi, among these, the foremost one abiding in the state of the mother and showing it to others is the first of great merit. More excellent than that merit is diligently focusing the mind on the Prajñāpāramitā, becoming a supreme object of offering, the second. More increasing than that merit is obtaining forbearance towards the unarisen Dharma, the third, thereby completely liberating beings. More excellent than that is, through the power of the union of the peak, diligently striving without clinging to the Dharmas that are the result of Bodhi and the causes of Bodhi, the fourth of holding. Surpassing the merit of sentient beings in Jambudvipa obtaining the ten virtues, meditative absorption, and samadhi, the union of the peak is more excellent, the fifth. In the presence of one abiding in the union of the peak, the gods come for protection and urge towards Bodhi, the sixth. Through the power of the foremost one meditating on the Prajñāpāramitā, completely overpowering all the Maras, the seventh. Through the power of the peak Prajñā, respectfully abiding as if showing it to other Bodhisattvas, the eighth, these eight are called the eight that are primarily external, because they are mainly represented by relying on other examples and other individuals. The eight that are primarily internal are: through the power of that peak Prajñā, being free from the mental activity of the formless realm Hearers and Solitary Realizers, etc., and being skillful in means, thereby completely purifying the trainings, the ninth. Through the power of that peak Prajñā, the Buddha's lineage, especially in the extensive Sutras, is illustrated by the example of a small gold-producing area. Annotation. Obtaining certainty, the tenth. In the extensive Sutras of the cause of obtaining Buddhahood, such as generating the mind of enlightenment, it is illustrated by the example of few Chakravartins. Annotation. The eleventh of especially increasing capacity. Through the power of that peak Prajñā, not generating minds that are contrary to the Pāramitās, the twelfth. Not generating minds that apprehend truth, conceptual constructs, and manifest from the form aggregate to omniscience, the thirteenth. Knowing the way to practice by including all the Pāramitās within the Prajñāpāramitā, the fourteenth. Through the power of meditation-born wisdom, obtaining all the complete types of realization of the three vehicles, the fifteenth. Through that power, approaching complete Bodhi, the sixteenth, these are the eight. Here, these signs and increases, etc., are holding the boundaries of the first attainment, not saying that they did not exist before. Although similar aspects such as pure realms and unions existed before, the special aspects of complete purity are obtained from these grounds, therefore they are established here, and such methods should be applied to all above and below.

It should be known. Among them, the first increase is explained by two verses such as "In Jambudvipa." The second is explained by one verse such as "Supreme Prajñāpāramitā." The third is explained by one verse such as "Bodhisattva." The fourth is explained by two verses such as "A certain person in the past." The fifth is explained by two verses such as "The sun is free from clouds." The sixth is explained by two verses such as "For example, a king's son." The seventh is explained by six verses such as "At that time, the demon," where the first two verses directly explain, the next three verses incidentally explain how to find opportunities, and the last verse explains its antidote. That is, for the Bodhisattva who is sought by the demon, ten are mentioned in the Eight Thousand Verses and twelve are mentioned in the Twenty Thousand Verses, and the last one is explained here. This seventh implies the eighth, which explains the fault of Bodhisattvas arguing with each other, and by explaining its antidote, it explains that Bodhisattvas should respect each other. The ninth increase is explained by one verse such as "If one learns." Three increases are explained by one verse such as "If a Bodhisattva," that is, "For the sake of seeking the Buddha's Dharma" explains the tenth obtaining certainty of lineage, "That is, learning increases" explains the eleventh increasing the ability to generate Bodhicitta, etc., and "Skilled in learning, therefore without object" explains the thirteenth not generating the mind of manifest clinging to reality. One verse such as "Wise and radiant" explains the twelfth not generating a mind that is contrary to the Pāramitās, that is, not generating a mind of non-virtue, stinginess, etc. The fourteenth increase is explained by two verses such as "Prajñāpāramitā." The fifteenth increase is explained by one verse such as "Bodhisattva skillful in mind." The sixteenth is not directly explained, but can be understood in meaning from the implication of the previous ones. This fifteenth increase is explained by Yeshe Zhabs (Sanskrit: Jñānapāda) as the peak of patience, that is, the stability of two meanings. The patience symbolized by stability is: completely enduring and comprehending the realization of the three wisdoms, that is, the stability of realizing one's own benefit; accomplishing the benefit of all sentient beings, not completely abandoning with thought and action, that is, the stability of compassion for the benefit of others. These two stabilities
