That is so, things and non-things, and there is no third dharma between the two. Things and non-things are also things that have dharma, because both of them are equal in the space of dharmata. The great equality of dharmata, which does not abide at either end of samsara or nirvana, is called the basis Prajñāpāramitā, the Tathāgatagarbha, and the dharmadhatu. Therefore, the object that aims at it is called the path Prajñāpāramitā, which also does not abide at either end. From the point of view of not abiding at the end of peace, it is great compassion without object; from the point of view of not abiding at the end of existence, it is wisdom Prajñāpāramitā. By realizing it as it is, it is impossible to abide at either end. Therefore, if one does not realize it as it is, but clings to the characteristics of things and non-things, then there is no way to attain true Buddhahood, so it is far away. If one does not cling to the characteristics of things and non-things, but realizes it as equality, then this is called closeness in method. Although suchness has no near or far for all dharmas, it becomes as if there is near and far due to proper realization and improper realization. Therefore, clinging to the characteristics of the basis, path, and fruit dharmas is called the basis consciousness to be abandoned, and the opposite is the antidote basis consciousness. However, this is not like something created by the mind for the sake of abandoning what should be abandoned, but the path or reality of all dharmas is naturally devoid of the elaborations of samsara, nirvana, things, non-things, etc., so this reality is very profound. Having realized the profound equality, one knows that all the dharmas of samsara and nirvana are without distinction, and are one in the great equality of nature, so that all clinging to appearances will be abandoned, and thus the extremes of existence and peace will be naturally prevented. Such a dharmata cannot be distinguished by form, etc., or by things and non-things, because there is no seeing, etc., by objects such as eye consciousness, so it is difficult to realize, and it transcends the object of thought of ordinary minds, and becomes the object of the wisdom of individual self-awareness. Therefore, the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas of inferior faculties fall into the extreme of peace because they do not understand this, and whoever sees it, the Bodhisattvas, this is the ultimate key to not falling away from the path, so it is an important key of Prajñāpāramitā, and is consistent throughout the beginning, middle, and end.

Being able to explain in accordance with this is the essence of the meaning. There are ten extensive combinations: the combination of preventing manifest clinging to the basis of qualities, such as form; to its characteristics, such as permanence and impermanence; to whether it is complete or incomplete as the basis of the qualities of the path; and to the absence of attachment to the clinging of truth to it, that is, the combination of preventing acting with manifest clinging to these three, along with the four types of entities, advising to abandon it from the perspective of clinging. Furthermore, completeness and incompleteness are the form of other-dependence and imputation, that is, no matter how much one focuses on form from the perspective of clinging to form in the form that appears as two, one will not generate the qualities of the path, just like ordinary beings. If one focuses on the form of suchness, that is, the form distinguished by being without inherent existence, one will generate the qualities of the path because one sees it as an illusion, just like the subsequent attainment of noble ones. Moreover, starting from the suchness perfection of wisdom, five practices are taught, that is, because the nature of the perfection of wisdom does not change, one understands that there is no increase or decrease, etc., whether it is taught or not, and the perfection of wisdom itself is the generator of pacifying praise, blame, attachment, aversion, etc., which does not exist in ultimate truth. Because one's own nature is unconditioned, no one has created it, and in ultimate truth it does not create anything either. That is the nature of three difficult deeds, that is, it is difficult to do for the sake of omniscience because it cannot be obtained in ultimate truth; it is difficult to do with the combination of the wisdom of the path because it cannot be produced in ultimate truth; and it is difficult to do from the basis of wisdom because it cannot be shown in ultimate truth. Therefore, when entering it in conventional truth, it is called difficult to do. As it says in the sutra: To don the armor for the sake of sentient beings is like lifting the sky. As it is said and so on. Therefore, although those types of basis and path are what is to be known, what is to be adopted, and what is to be attained, it is not appropriate to cling to them, therefore it is difficult to do. Thus, unchanging, without an agent, and difficult to do, these three are taught from the perspective of the nature. The two functions of that perfection of wisdom are: by practicing the mother, one obtains the result according to one's own share, therefore the result is not wasted; and without relying on anything other than the mother, if there is the mother, one can gather all the qualities of the path and result.
