To aim at things with various concepts as if they exist when they do not, this is the near shore of samsara. Because one sees that phenomena lack inherent existence, thereby destroying and abandoning or stopping the clinging concepts to them, this is going to the far shore of nirvana and abiding in the teachings of the Teacher. Thus, all phenomena are empty from the beginning, and aiming at the extreme of true cessation is the wisdom of seeing the truth of cessation. From this, one attains Buddhahood, all antidotes and purifications gather there, and one attains the pacification of all harm; these three are attained by this. From the basis of the path, the pacification of clinging to nirvana is: If the Teacher and others explain that sentient beings are unborn from the beginning, therefore they are naturally in nirvana. Because the attainer and so forth are not established, therefore, in the ultimate sense, the wisdom of realizing that the attainment of nirvana is not observable is the patience of seeing the nature of the truth of the path. By its power, the Buddhas protect, conceal, and abide on the path of self-knowing and place others there, and dedicate generosity and so forth to perfect enlightenment. Thus, with the wisdom of seeing all phenomena as equality, one sees the nature of the four truths as they are. Therefore, although divided into sixteen from the perspective of grounds and aspects, they are all contained within the meaning explained here, although they are also explained in some places from the aspect of qualities in one essential point. Second, the Mahayana path of meditation has two aspects: the activity of the path of meditation and the actual path of meditation. The actual path has two stages: the stage of the subsequent attainment of the path of meditation with outflows and the stage of the path of meditation without outflows in equipoise. These two were distinguished by Yeshe Zhap as pure worldly wisdom and transcendental wisdom. The first has three aspects: faith-aspiration, dedication, and joy. Faith-aspiration has three aspects: the object itself and its benefits, praise, respect, and extolling. In general, the path without outflows has two aspects: the nature of accomplishing the path of meditation in equipoise and the pure path of meditation as the path of liberation. Now, fifth, regarding the activity of the path of meditation, in general, the activity of the path of meditation is immeasurable, but in other sutras, it is said to be sixfold. Among these, in this context, two are taught: attaining unsurpassed enlightenment and not being overwhelmed by harm, while the other four are taught implicitly. These are "When I" and "The Prajnaparamita in which," and so forth, taught by each verse. Six

In short, regarding faith and understanding, there are three types: self-benefit faith and understanding, dual-benefit faith and understanding, and other-benefit faith and understanding. Each of these is further divided into small, medium, and large. Again, dividing the small of the small into three, it becomes twenty-seven types of faith and understanding, and there are twenty-seven sequences for explaining the benefits of these. Here, it is the benefit of the great of the great of self-benefit faith and understanding. Some extensively explain from "Sugata" to "not fearing rain," placing the four continents in the ten virtues, etc., among the nine types, this is the last one. Dual-benefit faith and understanding, from "the wisdom of the Victorious Ones" to "all dharmas proceed." This accomplishes the benefit of oneself and others, and one should believe that this is the source of all happiness in samsara and nirvana. This is shown by the example of the earth and the wheel-turning king. Other-benefit faith and understanding, from the Victorious One asking questions to Indra, etc., until it becomes one taste, with the example of the shade of a tree, along with the reason for making all paths into great Bodhi. Seventh, praise, respect, and commendation, broadly speaking, there are twenty-seven types, but here only the commendation of other-benefit faith and understanding is shown. That is, first, when teaching Prajnaparamita for the benefit of others, the difference between the apparent and the real is explained. The Bodhisattva, if very, etc., are two verses. The commendation of it is divided into general and specific. First, some say the sands of the Ganges, etc. Second, showing its reason with examples, the faith and understanding of the small faith-practice ground is, without sprouts, etc., from the arising of the initial mind like a sprout, the way in which all the qualities of the path arise, the faith and understanding of the medium impure seven grounds is, when the sun's circle, etc., if the wisdom of the noble ones, the ultimate Bodhicitta, arises in this world. The faith and understanding of the great pure three grounds, for example, with the Anavatapta lake, etc., if there is no wisdom Bodhicitta of the pure ground, the wisdom of the Sugata, the all-knowing, will not arise. Here, although it is the faith and understanding of the path of meditation, the commendation of the faith and understanding of faith-practice is also shown incidentally, or one should know to apply it sequentially to the impure seven grounds, as well as the previous pure two grounds, and the ten grounds.
