Firstly, Bodhisattvas, being skilled in the nature of meaning, thus endure. The mind of patience that arises is completely dedicated to the supreme Bodhi. The heroic Bodhisattva, for the benefit of all the world, through patience, will surpass the Hearer Arhats, Solitary Realizers, and the many realms of other sentient beings. In other sutras, it is said that the Hearer Śāriputra's patience is only for abandoning his own afflictions, so it is insignificant. The Bodhisattva's patience is for all sentient beings, so it is immeasurable. The difference between the gold of the Jambu River and copper, Mount Meru and mustard seeds, the ocean and a drop of water on a hair tip is shown as an example. Thirdly, the teaching on enduring suffering. Two verses, such as 'The patient thinks thus.' The one who practices patience should generate the mind in this way: In the realms of hell beings, animals, and the Lord of Death, that is, the preta realm, there are many unbearable sufferings such as heat, cold, hunger, and thirst. Due to attachment to the qualities of desire, they involuntarily experience those harms, and thus, without accomplishing anything for themselves or others, they meaninglessly experience suffering. For the sake of accomplishing the benefit of oneself and others, for the sake of unsurpassed Bodhi, why should I not endure now? Thinking thus, being whipped, beaten with sticks, stabbed with weapons, killed by having life cut off, bound by iron chains and the like, struck by stones and tiles and the like, having heads cut off, ears, limbs, and noses cut off, and all the sufferings that exist in the world, I will accept and endure. The Bodhisattva who thinks thus will abide in the perfection of patience. Fourthly, regarding ethics, there are two explanations: the benefits of having supreme ethics, and the differences between the superior and inferior of those ethics. First, one verse such as 'Through ethics.' Ethics make those who desire peaceful Nirvana particularly excellent, because ethics are like the feet that lead to liberation. The difference in essence is Bodhi

The discipline of a Bodhisattva abides in the realm of the ten powers, the so-called ten powers are the Buddha, and it is the discipline that follows him, not related to the inferior path's attention and so on, and not defiled by all the stains of what is to be abandoned on the Mahayana path, so the discipline is without violation, this shows the discipline of restraining evil deeds. The act of restraining, that is, discipline, is to follow all the good dharmas, that is, to protect from the incompatible and to enter into the antidote, which becomes the nature of discipline, so this is called the discipline of collecting good dharmas. To protect such discipline for the benefit of all sentient beings, and to dedicate it to the great Bodhi, is the discipline of benefiting sentient beings. Having briefly shown the nature of discipline in this way, secondly, to explain the difference between its superiority and inferiority, there are three differences from the door of dedication, from the door of motivation, and from the door of having or not having arrogance. First, if Arhats etc. one verse: If a Hearer Arhat and a Solitary Buddha guard the discipline with the mind of wanting to attain Bodhi, then in relation to this Mahayana, that person's discipline is broken, and the mind is not skillful, and so his behavior is also degenerated, because he falls from the great meaning, so the mind and action are degenerated. If this discipline is guarded for what, it is for the sake of unsurpassed Bodhi, to dedicate to the pacification of the two obscurations, then even if that person abides in the manner of diligently pursuing the five desires, he is also called abiding in the perfection of discipline, because he has entered into the excellence of the path and the fruit, so he does not degenerate. Secondly, there are two: brief explanation and detailed explanation. First, what dharma is determined etc. one verse: What kind of dharma to be learned is determined from the door of motivation, that is, the merits of the unsurpassed Bodhi that the Bodhisattvas should attain arise, this is the dharma with merits, it is said for the sake of the discipline of the Bodhisattvas. What kind of dharma is possessed by the inferior motivation, completely degenerates from the great Bodhi, the fruit that the benefiting Bodhisattvas should attain, this is the precept-breaker of the Mahayana.
