That wise person will be happy. Furthermore, if one truly contemplates, who is the speaker of these harsh words, and who hears them? For what reason, such as hatred, are bad words spoken? For what purpose, such as to cut off the minds of others, are these words spoken? If one observes in this way, realizing that appearances arising from interdependence are like illusions without inherent existence, then possessing the supreme perfection of patience is to be wise. Because one understands that there is no need to be angry at mere phenomena arising from causes and conditions. Those foolish ones who do not understand this, in turn, become angry, thereby harming themselves and others. Second, Bodhisattva, etc., two verses: If any Bodhisattva possesses the Dharma of virtuous conduct of patience, then filling this three-thousandfold great thousand world realm with various precious things, and offering it to the Buddhas, Arhats, and Pratyekabuddhas, the knowers of the world, even such a collection of generosity cannot compete with the merit of the Bodhisattva who possesses the state of patience. The result of maturation for abiding in patience is that the body will become completely pure like gold, possessing the thirty-two major marks and having boundless power. As the result of the person of patience who has firm faith in the Dharma, he will be able to proclaim the most excellent Dharma of emptiness to sentient beings. As the dominant result, beings in this world will be happy and rely on the Bodhisattva who possesses patience. As the result of separation, he will become a wise person free from delusion. Second, patience that does not mind harm: How to be patient, and the result of such patience. First, if sentient beings, etc., one verse: If some sentient being takes a sandalwood stake, that is, a piece of wood, and then with extremely respectful intention, uses it to anoint and smear the body of the Bodhisattva. And another person, with the intention of harming, strikes the end of the stick on the Bodhisattva's head, for both of these situations, the Bodhisattva should generate an equal mind without attachment or hatred. Second, Bodhisattva, etc., verse
