Secondly, refuting objections. From the ultimate point of view, there are objections that attaining Buddhahood is unreasonable because the fruit of merit does not increase and there is no attainment of abandonment; and from the conventional point of view, there are two objections that attaining Buddhahood is also unreasonable. The first has two aspects: that there is no decrease or increase in the ultimate sense, and that even if there is no decrease or increase, it is reasonable to attain Buddhahood in the conventional sense. First: "The Buddhas have taught," etc., one verse: Whatever the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, have taught in brief, and explained and shown its meaning in detail, and thoroughly explained with valid reasoning, all these teachings, however many have been spoken, in reality, all that is expressed and all that is to be expressed are invisible and inexpressible. However, knowing that it is only a name spoken in conventional terms, even if countless millions of kalpas have shown immeasurable doors of Dharma, and have spoken in the manner of negating or affirming, the words of expression will not be exhausted. However, this does not diminish the faults or increase the qualities of the essence of the Dharma realm itself, because equality is inexpressible and always abides in a state free from decrease and increase. Therefore, in the ultimate sense, all dharmas are equal without decrease or increase, and are already in nirvana, so there is nothing to be enlightened again. Second: "The Victorious Ones," etc., one verse: The path of the Victorious Ones, which is called the perfection of transcendent wisdom, all those dharmas, although they are not established in their own nature and are only proclaimed by name, but only in the conventional sense, all roots of virtue are completely dedicated to the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, and knowing that the path and the fruit have no self-nature, the Bodhisattva who combines skillful means and wisdom without the mind of clinging to this and that, from the infallible law of dependent origination, will not deviate from the true path and will touch the supreme enlightenment of the Buddha in name. Because all dharmas are originally the nature of nirvana, the state of complete purity, from the realization of this state as it is, the attainment of enlightenment distinguished by temporary separation and purification is infallible on the level of appearance. Second, refuting objections in the conventional truth, divided into what is to be refuted and the reasonableness of refuting.

There are two ways to attain merit. First, two aspects of example and meaning. First, one verse such as the essence of grain oil, etc. Thus, even within the scope of conventional terms, the mind that attains enlightenment is momentary, and since it cannot be accumulated, how can this mind attain enlightenment free from obscurations? The first moment of mind alone cannot eliminate obscurations, and the subsequent moment of mind, not relying on the first, also cannot eliminate obscurations, and since the two are not accumulated together, if one says so, then first, let us use an example known in the world. For example, the essence of oil from grains, etc., that is, clarified butter, when it encounters a burning flame of a lamp, the first moment of the flame alone cannot completely burn the essence, and without the first moment, it cannot be burned either. When oil and flame meet, the last flame alone cannot burn the essence of oil, and without the last flame, the essence cannot be burned either. However, when the continuous stream of flames from the first moment to the last is complete, the entire essence of grain oil is burned by the fire and completely exhausted, which exists. This should be understood by using such an example. Second, one verse such as the first mind also, etc. As in the example just mentioned, the very first mind that arises immediately does not touch the supreme enlightenment that is free from all that is to be abandoned, and without it, one cannot touch enlightenment. The last mind of the continuum that is about to attain enlightenment, it alone cannot attain the great enlightenment where all defilements are pacified, and without it, one cannot attain enlightenment. However, the stream of mind that transforms from earlier to later, and later becomes more excellent, ultimately attains the great enlightenment that has abandoned all that is to be abandoned. This is the nature of dependent origination, which is undeniable. Second, regarding the way of attaining merit, there are two aspects: the attainment of merit is reasonable, and the perfection of merit is reasonable. First, there are two aspects: the way of not being unreasonable, and the explanation of being definitely reasonable from the perspective of dependent origination. First, one verse such as from the seed, etc. If the initial mind that attains enlightenment remains until the attainment of the fruit, then it will become permanent.
