Those excellent students who enter by seeking meaning, those students who have respect for the lama, should always rely on those wise lamas who have good views and conduct, and who are able to explain the meaning of the Mahayana. Second, why is it, etc., this is one verse. Why is it that those who are beginners entering the Mahayana are earnestly advised to rely on the excellent spiritual friend? Because all the qualities of being skilled in the path and fruit of the Mahayana arise from that spiritual friend, because those spiritual friends will subsequently show this Mahayana path, the Prajnaparamita. Therefore, obtaining the teachings of the Buddha is dependent on the spiritual friend, so said the Victorious One, the perfectly enlightened Buddha, who possesses the supreme of all qualities. Like this, the skillful means of the path, meditation, contemplation, and listening, are all dependent on the former on the latter, and the latter on the former. And listening also depends on the spiritual friend. Second, regarding the way to show instructions, there are two parts: how to show instructions, and praising the merits of showing them in this way. First, generosity and discipline, etc., this is one verse. Like this, when showing instructions to someone who is newly entering the Mahayana, it is necessary to show the path that does not separate skillful means and wisdom, in a way that is appropriate to their capacity and level. Whatever six perfections you practice that become the path of the Victorious Ones, namely generosity, discipline, patience, and likewise diligence, meditation, and wisdom, you should enter into them with the three aspects of preparation, main practice, and conclusion complete, and dedicate all those roots of virtue completely to the ultimate great Bodhi with the intention of desiring omniscience. Such instruction is instruction on the aspect of skillful means. And the so-called Bodhi that is desired to be attained ultimately, do not be attached to the objects of the aggregates such as form, and do not have excessive attachment or manifest grasping to them. Why is that? Because all dharmas, represented by Bodhi, are without self-nature, therefore teaching them to understand this is instruction on the aspect of wisdom. In this way, one should show this to the practitioner who initially aspires to Bodhi. Second, acting in this way, etc.

This is a verse. To practice in this way, the Mahayana spiritual friends who skillfully teach the essential instructions are like a vast ocean of virtues that are difficult to fathom. The moons of speech, endowed with the light of the true Dharma, become protectors who dispel the suffering of beings by teaching the Dharma of benefit and happiness, become allies who lead to the bliss of Nirvana, and are places that eliminate the cause of suffering. Similarly, in this way, they become the basis for going to enlightenment, become the wisdom that knows benefit and harm, and for those who are immersed in the river of existence, they are like an island. An island is said to be a place in the middle of the water that is suitable as a dwelling place, called "དྭའི་པ་", which means located between two waters. By revealing the unborn nature of Dharma, they are like helmsmen who completely deliver from the mud of samsara, desiring or practicing the meaning. By revealing the selflessness of the person, they become clarifiers; by revealing the selflessness of phenomena, they become great lamps of Dharma. Through the gate of individual correct wisdom, they are not confused or afraid to speak of emptiness, the essence of the Dharma. Having deep and unwavering faith in the profound Dharma themselves, they have the complete courage to overcome all opposition in explaining its path and fruit. Or, completely delivering is like helmsmen, etc., who lead the way and enter the path, and with compassion that desires meaning, spontaneously accomplish the benefit of others, speak of the supreme Dharma that is true and not false, and are not shaken or confused by the slander of others such as demons and heretics, although it can also be explained separately. Second, explaining the disciples who listen to profound wisdom, divided into two: explaining the disciples who have faith in the profound, and explaining that such faith is difficult to arise. The first is further divided into the aspect of profound wisdom, and the explanation of the qualities of profundity. First, those with great fame, etc., this is a verse. Those who have entered the extremely profound and vast Mahayana path, who have great fame with the name of Bodhisattva in the immeasurable Buddha lands, are those who wear the armor of difficult deeds.
