From the compassion of Jamyang (འཇམ་པའི་དབྱངས་, Sanskrit: मञ्जुश्री, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: Mañjuśrī, Chinese literal meaning: Manjushri), Occasionally, the wisdom of thought shines well, Thinking of engaging in the practice of fierce mantras, etc., A thought arises to abandon some meaningless thoughts. The beings of the degenerate age cling to this life, If they know fierce mantras, they will only create harm to others. It will not become an iron wall protecting the Dharma, Like destroying oneself and destroying others, without any regard. In the Nyingma monasteries of the past, Although there were various profound and extensive fierce mantras, Mostly, they were only for one's own desires and harmed others, So when needed, they were not seen protecting the Dharma. The Kadampa holders of the teachings, who mainly practice mind training, Even without the harmful actions of fierce mantras, the Dharma flourishes. Although Bon and Nyingma like the activities of fierce mantras, Has the Dharma flourished because of that? The unerring cause and effect is the Victor's own path. Virtuous thoughts and actions are for one's own benefit and the benefit of others. This gentle way of benefiting others is good both internally and externally. Whether those are true, look at what happened in the past. Therefore, those who want to benefit themselves and the Dharma, For the good Bodhicitta, And the good diligent practice of the true Dharma, It is a hundred thousand times better than the meaningless selfish practice of fierce mantras and, The arrogant offerings. Oneself is happy, others are happy, the Dharma, politics, lineage, and, The auspicious activities are stable, and in harmony with everything. The Dharma, politics, and lineage of harsh thoughts and actions will decline. These are not just words, but spoken from the heart. Whether it is true or false in reality, think carefully. Look at those people with gentle or harsh thoughts and actions. Ponder this meaning with many examples and reasons. The words are written as they come, abandoning composition. Use wisdom to think that this meaning is like this. Practice like this, establish like this, You will always go from happiness to happiness. Thus, the logician named Mipham, Distracted in the waves of speculation, reading texts, Because he was busy with many affairs and neglected the result, He wrote it hastily with the thought of benefiting others. Arising from the root of good intention, Written into words by good action, May many who go astray on the path of the end times, Meet the meaningful Dharma. Written on the 22nd day of the 11th month of the Earth Dog year of the Rabjung cycle, at Dzogchen Monastery, at the foot of Dzogchen Phenpo Mountain (རྫ་རྒྱལ) (present-day Zhaga Holy Mountain in Shiqu County, Sichuan Province), may it be virtuous! Mangalam! Mangalam! Union

A brief instruction on what to adopt and abandon. All Buddhas are the embodiment of wisdom, Manjushri. The deity of supreme wisdom, the light of his heart. May it quickly enter your heart, and may the appearance of adopting and abandoning become clear. "Adopting" refers to virtuous conduct, believing in cause and effect, and abiding on the path of the ten virtues. Accomplishing one's own benefit is excellent, and benefiting others is supreme. This life and future lives will be transformed into the flourishing of the path of goodness. "Abandoning" refers to the conduct of the unvirtuous, hiding one's own benefit, and living by lies, deception, and trickery. Reversing cause and effect, engaging in actions that harm others. Suffering here, and the cause of going to the lower realms in the future. The distinction between adopting and abandoning is the command of the Buddhas, and the excellent words and treatises of the holy ones. Listen well to them and contemplate their meaning. If faith arises, then one enters the ranks of the good. Although the way of things is like this, in these times, the immaculate teachings of the Buddha are in danger of declining. Those who uphold the teachings in the proper manner are like stars in the daytime. No matter how much one explains, it is very difficult to understand. In particular, with the support of the black side, the heretics, and the emanations of great demons, the minds of the local deities are transformed, causing people to engage in wrong conduct involuntarily. Greed and desire burn like fire, irrational hatred boils like water, and doing good to those who are not good, and doing good to those who are not good, the ignorance of seeing things in reverse is as dark as darkness. Although these are the magical displays of demons, no one understands their meaning. Arrogant and conceited, self-satisfied, one will eventually reap the fruits of one's own actions and become disillusioned. Therefore, in this evil age, like me, who has not accomplished anything in Dharma or worldly affairs, like an old ox lying in a dark cave, whose advice is beneficial to anyone by repeating the words of a barren woman? However, following the urging of the words to write a concise summary of what to adopt and abandon, and whatever comes to mind, listen for a moment to the words of a madman, and if you analyze them, they may be of some benefit. Nowadays, most people do not know what to adopt and abandon, and even if they do, they cannot put it into practice because they are oppressed by the times. It is useless to say too much to such people, and it is essential to control one's own mind. The black side is flourishing, the teachings are declining, and the power of the white side's enemy gods and oath-bound protectors is weak, so even if one makes good wishes, it is difficult to achieve them. Please, good people,
