Everything cannot be understood by existence, nor can it be understood by the wisdom of the noble ones. All the dharmas of the basis, path, and result, which are inseparable from ultimate truth, are not empty from their own side, and these are ultimate truths, not conventional truths. Therefore, because they exist as ultimate truths, they can be understood by existence. Because they do not exist as ultimate truths, they can be understood by non-existence. The self-empty school believes that everything is ultimately non-existent, so there can be no dharma that exists as ultimate truth. But in the other-empty school, if ultimate truth does not exist, it is conventional truth, and what exists as ultimate truth is ultimate truth itself. Our own school clearly explains the views of the self-empty school in debates. The way the other-empty school establishes ultimate truth is based on whether existence and appearance are consistent or inconsistent. What cannot be observed by the investigation of ultimate truth is the meaning of ultimate truth not existing; what exists is the meaning of ultimate truth being established. Both of these are valid means of examining conventional truth, not establishing that one's own nature is non-empty. Therefore, the two selves that are the objects of the two kinds of self-grasping, and all the appearances of impure samsara that arise from them, are all conventional truths, that is, existence and appearance are inconsistent, because in selflessness, self appears to exist, and what is naturally pure also appears to be impure. The dharmas of stainless nirvana, which are distinguished by selflessness, are called ultimate truth, because they are not deceptive and existence and appearance are consistent, that is, in selflessness, one apprehends selflessness, and what is naturally pure also appears to be pure. Even so, the appearance of dependent arising is not deceptive, it is conventional truth, and ultimate truth cannot be observed. If we consider it from the perspective of how appearance and emptiness and the two truths are established, the appearance of the pure form body and wisdom is also empty from the perspective of appearing in many ways, but it is not non-empty. Therefore, these two must be understood as non-contradictory. If the ways of establishing ultimate truth before and after are confused and they argue with each other, then the other-empty school's own tenets will not be established, because if it is the ultimate truth investigating intellect that establishes conventional truth, then that intellect must also admit that the form body and wisdom are empty of all characteristics. If it is not empty, then the two selves cannot be refuted, because the person who has the form body and wisdom has the self of the person, and the form body and wisdom that are truly established are the self of phenomena, which cannot be denied. In this way, the application of intellect is no different, so it is deluded.

Or are there also two selves? Or in the non-erroneous appearance, the emptiness of two selves is also established. Although those who speak of the two truths also establish all phenomena as the union of appearance and emptiness, free from elaboration, which is undeniably established at any time. However, it is also necessary to acknowledge these two truths, which are established based on whether the basis of appearance is consistent or inconsistent. Because, even for phenomena that belong to the aspect of apparent conventional truth, it is necessary to distinguish between correct and incorrect, deceptive and non-deceptive, and not everything that is conventional truth must be a deluded appearance. Not everything that is labeled as ultimate truth must be mere emptiness, because the two ways in which conventional and ultimate truth have their own respective ways of measuring are well-known in the sutras and great treatises. Auspicious! Explanation of Doubts in the Uttaratantra. After stating that all phenomena are empty like clouds and dreams, what is the need to then say that the element of the nature of mind of all sentient beings is the realm of the Tathagatagarbha, which is a realm endowed with qualities? It is said that it is for the purpose of abandoning the five faults such as discouragement. Is such a statement, that such a realm exists even though it has no qualities, a false statement that is provisional or definitive? If it is provisional, then it directly contradicts the Uttaratantra's own words. It is definitive, that is, after generating the mind of enlightenment, it is the irreversible, indestructible, and permanent path. It is the uncommon aspect of the Mahayana realization lineage. That it is so is also explained by "The true limit is conditioned," etc. The phenomena of samsara, which are included in karma, afflictions, and ripening, are not inherently present in the element. Because it is naturally pure, it can be separated. All the qualities of the uncontaminated, non-abiding nirvana are present in its own nature inseparably, like the openness of space and the light of the sun. The Sugatagarbha is not merely emptiness, but emptiness is luminosity. That is the original ground of all phenomena. It is the indivisible state of the union of the two truths, the emptiness that possesses all supreme aspects. It does not abide in existence or peace in its essence, and it has the qualities of the Buddha spontaneously present. By realizing it, all the qualities of the Mahayana path arise. The subtle karma, afflictions, and ripening, even down to the individual, are not to be abandoned completely, because ignorance and habitual tendencies are the basis. Abandoning that
