For those who are pure with fire, fire is hot, or they die or are harmed by potent poison, as exemplified by the benefit to peacocks, etc. Even a single water appears in various forms, and through meditation, even if thrown into fire, it is not burned, and through mantras, fire is not hot, etc. Through various interdependent connections, even a single object appears in various different functions. Karma, meditation, mantras, and miraculous powers transform into various forms, and this is undeniable. This is the key to the non-true establishment of external objects or things, because they transform into various ways of assembling causes and conditions. Therefore, the three ways of appearing—the nature of phenomena, action, and dependence—should be analyzed in conjunction with the non-deceptive. Now, even non-virtuous actions generally produce suffering, but due to the particularity of conditions, such as some who say that violence is dharma, is there a production of happy results? If so, the cause and effect are not non-deceptive. If you think like that, then killing, etc., from the aspect of performing actions that produce suffering results, is considered non-virtuous, and that itself is the cause of maturation on the mind. Even if it is labeled as virtue that produces happy results, it will not become that, just as if one is accustomed to labeling the heat of fire as non-heat, the heat will not disappear. If you say that like a wild animal, the time when fire is hot may come, then if something like killing does not kill, then the result of suffering will not arise either. But if one kills, the bad maturation cannot be reversed, just as not releasing fire will not release burning. Therefore, knowing that killing is killing, it is a wrong thought to think that it will bring about a happy result, so it will not produce a happy result. Furthermore, the suffering of a Bodhisattva cutting off his body is felt as happiness, and the happiness of a kingdom is seen as suffering, no matter what the conditions are. Because happiness and mental happiness, suffering and mental unhappiness directly arise in the mind itself, that is why happiness and unhappiness are considered to exist. Therefore, there is never any mutual seeking of happiness and suffering. Similarly, actions motivated by a mind with or without the three poisons are considered virtuous or non-virtuous, not by thinking, "This is virtuous, this is sinful." Therefore, the results of virtue and sin are never confused. Killing and eating meat is beneficial, and killing enemies brings mental happiness.

What is experienced is the present condition, and the happiness and suffering caused by that condition are not the fully ripened fruit of that condition. Therefore, the cause and effect of virtue and vice are never deceiving, and the function of conditions is to follow whatever conditions come together, without necessarily experiencing happiness and suffering. Because it is not certain, the three—subject, predicate, and reason—cannot be established, and there will be no fault of being too extreme. If you think that because reason is not certain, it becomes unreliable, it is not so. Because when any conditions come together, the essence of what appears in the field of appearance is the nature of phenomena, and the cause, action, and agent of such a nature of phenomena, and the reason for dependence that depends on the cause, and like this, without error, the determination is a reasonable reason, and it will never change to anything else. Therefore, external objects that are commonly seen, such as water, have moisture, or colors and shapes that are slightly similar, and until then, they are established as commonly seen, and the difference between pure and impure is also distinguished. People see water, pus, and bile differently, while pretas see water as pus or bile. Because the appearances are different, without examining which is true, if it is argued that there is no difference because it is the appearance of habit, then there is a fault that the commonly seen objects are completely uncertain. If the appearance of habit is examined in the end, like water, no matter which one is seen, it will never be established that one is true, so it will become the same. However, the establishment of the validity of the way things appear is not contradictory, because whatever appears to each person is established as infallible in their own mind, and that alone is conventional validity. Even so, for a while, all the water appears as pus to the pretas, but the appearance of water will not be completely cut off, because there is the appearance of water. In general, in the conventional world, all the infallible conventional experiences of water, pus, etc., whatever appears, become validly established by experience, but there is not a single truly established thing that can withstand examination. Then, the white conch and the yellow conch have no difference in terms of validity, and likewise, conceptual and non-conceptual, delusion and non-delusion, are all the same? Because of the stability and instability of habits, etc., it is reasonable to be valid and invalid. In the end, there is no external object, because it is established by valid cognition that it is merely the appearance of habit. Because one thing, minds are different. Like this, it will surely be established. All the treatises that establish the existence of external objects are temporarily based on appearance.
