That is the ultimate truth. Recognizing that having and not having an object are not contradictory, and studying the two paths of accumulation, is the correct prajnaparamita. Good! For beginners, if they do not have a deep understanding and experience of the nature of reality, their thoughts will turn into emptiness hindering appearance, and appearance obscuring emptiness, so that they cannot understand the two as a whole. This is not understanding the meaning of Madhyamaka. For the time being, there is no choice but to guide them by having concepts such as non-reality arise in their minds. When the two truths merge into one, emptiness does not hinder appearance, and appearance does not obscure emptiness. When one realizes that appearance and emptiness are inseparable and are one whole, then one understands the meaning of Madhyamaka. At that time, if it were not empty from the beginning, then all appearances, causes and effects, actions, etc., would not be valid. It is precisely because it is empty that all of this is valid. If it were not appearance, then emptiness would not exist either. For example, a barren woman's child, something that does not exist at all, is not the meaning of emptiness. The mutual non-existence of one thing, or something that existed and then disappeared, or something that has not yet been born in the future and therefore does not exist, or the absence of a vase in some places, etc., these various differences of non-existence are only differences in the way of non-existence in conventional truth. If worldly people can understand these, then it is not the beginning of no self-nature or emptiness. Emptiness means that the phenomena that exist in conventional truth abide in emptiness without arising from the beginning. This needs to be understood based on reasonings such as oneness and otherness. Therefore, if the phenomena that exist in conventional truth do not exist, then their emptiness cannot exist either. The self-nature without self-nature, the suchness without phenomena, like a barren woman's child, will completely not exist. Therefore, these two, appearance and emptiness, are inseparable in the nature of things. If one does not understand that the other shore, which is far from conventional appearance, is the ultimate truth or emptiness, and does not understand that this shore, which is far from emptiness, is appearance or conventional truth, then one must understand that they are originally inseparable. In this way, having and not having an object, emptiness and appearance, conventional truth and ultimate truth are equal. Although there are differences in words and meanings, they are not different in meaning, and this should be understood. Furthermore, the true reality is inseparable, the dharmadhatu is free from elaboration, and in the realm of experience of realizing this state, there is no acceptance, no object, no clinging, and the cessation of thought and speech. If one does not understand this, then what?

Furthermore, there is the view of the Heshang, which does not grasp, and the deceitful view, which does not acknowledge for fear of being blamed. There is also the inability to express, like a mute tasting molasses or a child seeing a temple. Or, holding that knowable objects and expressible things are completely nonexistent, and clinging to a mindless, speechless state that does not arise in the mind, this is truly laughable. Even if one knows the names of emptiness and suchness, one has never experienced even a fraction of their meaning, and this only serves to expose one's own shortcomings. For example, without generating certainty through the path of reasoning that there is no true establishment, thinking that there is no true establishment, and being able to ascertain non-true existence through the path of reasoning, thinking that there is no true establishment. Although it seems similar to contemplate the absence of true establishment in the mind, the former cannot understand, while the latter can understand, and there is such a difference. Similarly, how can there be any opportunity for the Heshang, without first analyzing through reasoning that all phenomena are free from extremes and without focus, not to grasp anything, and to not grasp anything after gaining certainty through reasoning about the freedom from the four extremes of elaboration? It is just like the former. Freedom from elaboration is accomplished through reasoning without characteristics, but if one thinks that only the characteristic of non-affirming negation of non-true existence is accomplished through reasoning, then through which, nominal, ultimate, or analytical reasoning, is it accomplished? We also agree that it is accomplished through nominal designation, but that alone is not the ultimate reality. If it is accomplished through ultimate analytical reasoning, then clinging to non-true existence itself must be able to withstand analysis and become truly established, because that is unreasonable. In short, for the time being, when establishing the conventional ultimate, that which cannot withstand ultimate analysis is called non-true existence, and that which can is called true establishment, which is accepted by oneself and others. If one acknowledges that that which does not exist ultimately, and that which is non-true existence and cannot be analyzed by ultimate analysis, are all the same meaning, then there will be no dispute, and there is no contradiction no matter how it is named. If that is the case, then ultimately freedom from elaboration can also be accomplished. If, however, one clings to the characteristic of non-affirming negation of non-true existence and considers it to be the ultimate reality, thereby obstructing freedom from elaboration, then your emptiness is only the emptiness of true establishment. If there is no true establishment, then union will also not exist, because the true establishment of emptiness and appearance being of one taste does not exist, like a rabbit's horn and its emptiness. Without arising and ceasing is truly established.
