It is not the case. If it can withstand analysis by examining the meaning, then it is truly established. If it is not, then it is truly not established. However, in terms of meaning, there is not the slightest object to be negated called 'truly established' that is different from the pot. Because, as a phenomenon, the truly established that is different from the pot is not the truly established of the pot. Therefore, negating it does not establish that the pot is truly not established. That is merely imputed by philosophical tenets. Ordinary beings do not grasp the truly established of the pot that is other than the pot. Although different negations can be distinguished through the door of language, in terms of meaning, it is impossible for a phenomenon and its nature to be established as different entities. Therefore, this elimination of the permanence of sound is not a negation of permanence that is different from sound. Rather, it is like eliminating the superimposition of grasping sound itself as permanent. Similarly, eliminating the true establishment of a pot is also the same. Therefore, although it is permissible to say that a pot is empty of other true establishments through the door of linguistic negation, in terms of the essence of meaning, the pot itself is not empty of its own essence, or it is the elimination of superimposing it as true through what is permissible by analysis. Therefore, the essence of the pot is self-emptiness, how could it be other-emptiness? If it were other-emptiness, then it would have to be like a pillar being empty of cloth, or a goat's horn being empty of a mountain goat's horn. But that would not establish emptiness, because if one's own essence is not empty, then true establishment will also not be empty. Because the non-emptiness of essence itself is true establishment, this is undeniable. That is not reasonable, because the pot is established as being empty of other true establishments. Then one should ask: How is it established? If one establishes that the pot is truly not established through the way that the pot itself is not established in the face of meaningful analysis, then it is merely applying the term 'truly not established' to not having seen the pot. If one sees the pot because of that, then there cannot be true non-establishment. Seeing in convention does not establish true non-establishment. Is not seeing in convention something that both sides acknowledge? Even if it exists in convention, but it is established as truly not established, then there is nothing other than not having been seen by meaningful analysis. If the pot is seen in convention, and one thinks that in that meaning, another meaning of true establishment is negated, if the meaning is other, then put aside the pot of convention without analyzing whether it is one or many, etc., and one should analyze the true establishment of the other meaning. Because the true establishment of the pot that is not the pot is like a random mountain goat's horn, it does not exist even in convention.

How does the analysis of one and many apply? Just as there is no term called "rabbit's horn," there is no need to establish its non-existence through meaning analysis. Therefore, by guiding the way words are expressed, and by negating inherent true existence in meaning, thinking that "a vase is not empty of a vase, a vase is empty of truth" is like negating a rabbit's horn. This cannot slightly dispel the object of attachment that clings to things that appear commonly as truly existent, because for the vase itself not being empty, one would fabricate the reason that the vase is truly existent. However, apart from the vase, there is no other nature that is established in common appearance, so there is no one who would fabricate that the vase is truly existent. Therefore, such expressions appear in the great treatises of India and Tibet, and we can never prevent the way those words are expressed. However, if one holds that these words have something in meaning that cannot be negated by meaning analysis, and claims that this contradicts the meaning of scriptures such as "the eye is empty of the eye," then this intention has gone astray into failing to understand emptiness correctly. No matter how words express it, if one understands that there is no contradiction in meaning, then the statement "a vase is empty of truth" is faultless, and one can also understand that being empty of truth is not findable in the ultimate truth. "Space" is well-known in the world and in treatises, but upon analysis, it is proven to be merely a conceptual imputation, and its own nature does not even exist in words. Therefore, it is not considered a conventional truth that has function. Because the sutra says, "That which abides in having function is called the ultimate truth." The ultimate truth here refers to what exists in the object of analysis or the object of application of words through word analysis. It is not considered to exist merely because a word is conventionally imputed, because imputed existence exists through the mode of universals, not through the mode of particulars. If it exists through the mode of particulars, it would become a real entity. Therefore, someone says: Space should be cognized by a valid cognition, because it exists. If you admit that, then is it cognized by direct perception or by inference? If you say it is cognized by direct perception, then by which of the six sense consciousnesses is it cognized? Because space has no sound, smell, taste, or touch, it cannot be directly perceived by ear consciousness, etc. But worldly people say they see space, they look at the sky, in the sky...
