Inference, which does not perceive its own result, must measure, and the nature of the object to be measured must exist in conventional terms. Whatever is imputed by conceptual thought cannot be established by conventional valid cognition. If it could be established, then everything, such as designating poison as medicine, would be established by valid cognition, or no phenomenon could be established conventionally. Therefore, since in ultimate reality, no phenomenon perceives its own nature, all grasping of "this" and "that" phenomenon is established as mere conceptual imputation. However, in conventional terms, the nature of things like pillars, which appear as objects of unimpaired sense consciousness due to the power of accurate dependent origination, undeniably exists. Whether or not this is established by valid cognition should be examined. In this direction, the establishment of whether a pillar exists or not is also established by direct perception, based on whether the unimpaired sense consciousness perceives the nature of the pillar. Who can deny this? If this is not accepted, it would negate all the established systems of conventional valid cognition. Therefore, conventional valid cognition is sufficient, and nothing more is needed for both the world and the scriptures. However, if it is not sufficient, and there is no conventional nature beyond mere conceptual imputation, then if it is sufficient for the relative truth, either everything imputed by conceptual thought would become validly established, or nothing would be validly established. There is no other option. Just a brief explanation, on the 26th day of the 11th month of the Iron Pig year. Even if the Persians impute that killing elderly parents is virtuous, it does not become virtuous. Because not killing is the nature of non-virtue in conventional terms, and if there is no nature of virtue, how could it become so? Similarly, the Buddha said that there is no sin in accidentally killing insects by blowing on a fire without the intention to kill. If the naked ascetics impute that there is sin, then is that virtuous or non-virtuous? In conventional terms, the seed's ability to produce a sprout is naturally established. Is it the case that the sprout is produced merely by conceptual imputation, and not by its own nature? Based on the fact that in ultimate reality, there is no perceivable nature. At that time, for things like sprouts in conventional terms, all three of its cause, effect, and nature can be established by the valid cognition that examines conventional terms. The Buddha also knows the cause, effect, and nature of all conventional phenomena. If there is no nature, how can he know them in conventional terms? The valid cognition that establishes the cause, effect, and nature is also based on dependence, action, and the nature of phenomena.

If it is said that conventional validity is established by the three kinds of reasoning, then, if convention is merely imputed by conceptual thought and simply named, and lacks the nature of convention, then how can we establish "is and is not," "exists and does not exist" for it? It is impossible for something to become existent simply because conceptual thought imputes it as existent, just like virtue and vice, etc. It will not become existent simply because conceptual thought imputes it as existent, just like Ishvara being the creator of the world. It is not the case that something is nonexistent simply because conceptual thought imputes it as nonexistent, just like the Charvakas imputing that there is no future life. Even if conceptual thought imputes that something is not, it will not become that the Buddhas are not all-knowing. Therefore, although there are no dualities or terms of affirmation and negation in the ultimate, unelaborated reality, in conventional validity, the nature of how the object to be proven appears in convention is not merely imputed by conceptual thought. Rather, the appearance of dependent origination itself has the nature of an unbetraying appearance. It is in relation to the nature of convention measured from the perspective of how it appears that conventional validity is established. If there is no nature of convention, then what would conventional validity establish or refute? Therefore, the establishment of conventional validity does not involve examining existence or nonexistence in the ultimate sense, but rather examining the nature of cause and effect in the way things appear. If we examine with ultimate analysis, the creator Ishvara does not exist in convention, and the pot exists in convention. Both of these are imputed by conceptual thought, but they are the same in that their own nature is not found or does not exist. However, just because something does not exist ultimately does not mean that it does not exist conventionally, because this is the context of establishing conventional validity. How can the nature of the pot, etc., not exist in convention? If it does not exist, it would be like slandering all conventions, and there would be no way to establish any conventional validity of existence, nonexistence, is, or is not. If there is no nature in convention, but it is established as valid merely by being imputed by conceptual thought, then there would be no truth or falsehood in the tenets of Buddhists and non-Buddhists. Virtue, vice, cause and effect, good and bad, acceptance and rejection would all be confused, and in this system, there would be no conventional validity at all. Therefore, in convention, what is imputed by conceptual thought must be established as valid if it agrees with reality, and not established by validity if it does not agree with reality. And since there is absolutely no way to establish agreement or disagreement without relying on the nature of conventional objects themselves,
