After completely cutting off, if it is understood that the self-nature of each dharma is originally like the heat of fire and the moisture of water, clearly emptiness, yet appearing, this is the way dharma nature exists. Then, emptiness and dependent arising can appear as one without contradiction. If it is not emptiness by its own nature, but emptiness is understood from the perspective of other-emptiness, and it is believed that all appearances and existences arise from non-existent rabbit horns, then it must be admitted that rabbit horns do not exist, and that cow horns exist as real entities. Since the self-nature of real existence and non-existence is contradictory, how can these two be established as emptiness and dependent arising, a unity without contradiction? Please think about it. Even if cow horns exist, if it is thought that emptiness and dependent arising are realized as one simply because rabbit horns do not exist on them, then even an old cowherd could easily understand this. So why is the profound meaning of emptiness and dependent arising, the union of two truths, difficult for even the wise to understand? Those who pride themselves on being skilled in rhetoric and want to belittle the views of others, please think carefully before speaking. If someone says: These words are not based on either the ultimate truth or the conventional truth, but rather that the pot is not empty by the pot in conventional truth, and the pot is empty by true existence in ultimate truth, so there is no fault. Then, the pot as a subject, is empty because it is truly established, because it is separate from the nature of one and many. Like this, establishing the sign, the property, and the subject in reverse, if it is only refuting true establishment on the pot in reverse, and there is no other meaning than this, then for the ancients, it would become proving what has already been established. If in name, the pot is not empty by the pot, and the pot has no true establishment, and there is no other meaning than this, then what is the point of arguing about these word games? There should be no dispute or disagreement over mere words expressing intention. However, merely admitting these will not make you surpass the Tibetan ancients. You believe that the view of self-emptiness of pots etc. does not conform to the views of the ancients, so you newly created the school of other-emptiness of pots etc., believing that all dharmas are truly established differently from themselves, like the non-existence of rabbit horns. In both sutra and tantra, it is believed that this negation of non-existence is the ultimate reality that needs to be practiced.

In that case, it seems that the exceptional emptiness proponents of Tibet are unable to eliminate even slightly the aforementioned eight faults in terms of discriminating between conventional and ultimate truths. If you accept the other-emptiness doctrine, which does not consider the pot to be empty in its own nature but empty of other true establishments, then the Jonangpas' statement that the primordial ultimate truth, the non-dual suchness, is not empty in its own nature but is empty of the adventitious conventional dualistic elaborations, should be considered an excellent explanation for you. It would be better if your system abandoned conventional other-emptiness and followed the ultimate other-emptiness of the Jonangpas, since you accept conventional other-emptiness and ultimate self-emptiness, while the Jonangpas accept conventional self-emptiness and ultimate other-emptiness. Let the people of the snowy lands judge which of these two is better! Rather than being attached to mere verbal disputes, letting attachment and aversion burn like fire, consuming one's own continuum, and wasting one's life on trivial study and contemplation, it would be better to properly contemplate the meaning of ultimate emptiness. If one measures with an impartial mind, when examining with ultimate analysis, the fact that the pot is not found establishes the meaning of emptiness. Therefore, in that respect, it is necessary to establish that conventional phenomena are empty of their own nature. If there is a phenomenon that is not empty in its own nature, then it is truly established. Thus, since there is nothing that can be established by ultimate analysis or that is truly established, this appearance of infallible dependent arising is the very nature of things, which is appearance without inherent existence. If one understands this, then the unity of emptiness and dependent arising is established. What need is there for verbal disputes? Since it is thus established as devoid of truth, saying "this pot is devoid of truth" or "is emptiness," one establishes the terms devoid of truth or emptiness for the pot and so on. Therefore, if one distinguishes between the meaning of empty and not empty, not established in the ultimate sense, and the difference of not existing in conventional terms, then no matter how one speaks, there will be no conflict in meaning. If one does not distinguish and only thinks of distinguishing by words, then no matter how one speaks, there will be many contradictions. In general, one should measure the meaning of the scriptures by relying on the four reliances, and not be wearied by verbal disputes.
