It is not. Although it is emptiness, it is not established as empty by its own nature, because in the originally empty (state) there is no emptiness to be established. It is luminosity, which is the reality of all phenomena, the natural abode, the immutable. It is not completely non-existent like a rabbit's horn. Although it is free from elaboration, because it is originally free from elaboration, there is no self-nature of "freedom from elaboration" to be fixated upon. Emptiness, selflessness, signlessness, etc., are merely linguistic expressions, and do not exist on the nature of reality. Because from the perspective of the object of knowledge, there is no characteristic of any elaboration, it is thusly designated. If one does not rely on the object to be refuted, freedom from elaboration, etc., cannot be established. Therefore, in the originally empty, freedom from elaboration, there is no talk of empty or non-empty. Wonderful, wonderful, excellent! Furthermore, it is said: Phenomena that exist in conventional reality, although empty of their own nature, appear while being empty, therefore they are the union of appearance and emptiness. One can understand this as the view of the four unions of emptiness. The union of appearance and emptiness is established by the very nature of things. The appearances of dependent origination in conventional reality are established as empty only by being analyzed for their own nature. In conventional reality, things like vases appear as their own nature, but they cannot be established when analyzed. Therefore, although there is no self-nature in ultimate reality, if one abandons such analysis, the appearance of a vase as its own nature is undeniable in the state of not examining or analyzing, and therefore it is established as union. The vase that exists in conventional reality, its own nature is not empty, and the emptiness of true existence that does not exist in conventional reality, these two, the cause of emptiness and the cause of non-emptiness, are different phenomena. The vase appears while being empty of its own nature, it is not that it is empty while appearing, but that while its own nature appears and is not empty, the emptiness of other phenomena is applied to it, like the union of the appearance of a cow's horn and the emptiness of a rabbit's horn. If that is the case, the meaning of appearing while being empty of its own nature and being empty while appearing is that form is emptiness, and emptiness is form. The four statements from the Heart Sutra, "Form is emptiness, emptiness is form, form is no different from emptiness, emptiness is no different from form," cannot be established on a vase, but should be established on true existence. However, if the basis of true existence is not established, how can there be appearance? Because it does not exist, when one says emptiness, one falls into the extreme of emptiness being merely empty, separated from appearance; and when one says appearance, one falls into the extreme of appearance being merely appearance, separated from emptiness. Therefore, all phenomena are not by nature beyond existence and non-existence, but are empty in relation to other

is also needed. All phenomena of conventional language do not transcend the extremes of permanence and annihilation by their own nature. Since all appearances fall into the extreme of permanence, one must rely on the emptiness of other Dharma meanings to eliminate the extreme of permanence. It is amazing that emptiness falls into the extreme of annihilation and cannot be eliminated by its own nature, but must rely on other phenomena of conventional language. If so, it is as irrelevant as Devadatta dying and being resurrected by the sacrifice not dying. What help does the emptiness of other dharmas do to the non-emptiness of other's own nature? That is not so. If you think that the pot is unreal in its own nature, how can it not be empty? Although the pot is unreal, if it is not emptiness, then unreality and emptiness become different meanings. Haha. Also, if you say that the pot is not emptiness, but the nature of the pot is emptiness, then the nature of the pot becomes truly established. Because it is admitted that the emptiness of true establishment is emptiness. Haha. Also, it is okay to say that the pot is not empty, and the true establishment of the pot is empty. The pot and the true establishment of the pot must be neither one nor different, but since you admit that they are different, it is strange that rejecting irrelevant others is the Dharma nature of the pot. It is like rejecting rabbit horns to establish that cow horns are unreal. It is like inviting snakes to live in the holes in your own walls. Therefore, no Dharma can be admitted as emptiness unless it is combined with emptiness by true establishment. Also, if it is admitted that the pot is emptiness, then there must be no pot in conventional language, then emptiness becomes the cause of the destruction of things. Because any Dharma that is empty by its own nature must not exist in conventional language. Also, the nature of the pot must not exist in conventional language. Because the nature of the pot is emptiness. These pervasions are all admitted. All dharmas are not emptiness, because if they are empty, they are considered to not exist in conventional language. The birth of the pot, etc., becomes able to be examined by the wisdom of meaning. Because its own nature is not empty. It also becomes truly established. Also, all dharmas that exist in conventional language are subjects, and become existent in ultimate reality. Because it cannot be refuted by the wisdom of meaning. The sign is admitted, so all dharmas of conventional language are subjects, and become truly established. Because it cannot be refuted by the wisdom of meaning. And so on, endlessly.
