If one meditates without any object of focus, then becoming accustomed to it, one prevents the perception of that and that, so that attachment, hatred, etc., do not arise towards it. Similarly, if applied to all phenomena, it is consistent with not fixating on the three spheres, and one can quickly introduce the pacification of various conceptual elaborations into one's own mind-stream. If one thinks, "This is not true," then if one becomes accustomed to it to a good degree, it will appear like an illusion, which will help to reduce clinging to reality. Since the perception of that and that object is not reversed, it is difficult to reverse clinging to reality. Even if one does not cling to things due to the clinging to truth, one cannot prevent clinging to the characteristics of those and those nominal phenomena, so it is only a post-meditation certainty like an illusion. Now, if one thinks that any object is not fixated upon, will one not become too attached to the side of emptiness because that and that is not fixated upon, and thus become nihilistic? In any case, in the face of the meditation of meditating on any phenomenon whatsoever without any fixation, that phenomenon does not arise either. And for that which does not arise, the characteristics of the two phenomena, such as annihilation, permanence, coming and going, one and many, etc., do not occur anywhere. In this way, by becoming accustomed to the nature of phenomena, the appearances of dependent arising, which are phenomena, appear like the eight examples of illusion, and the certainty that they are without inherent existence is naturally introduced. When habituation is perfected, one can introduce the wisdom of the learning meditative equipoise, which is like the sky, without grasping and appearance. If one does not meditate on emptiness, the self-nature of phenomena not being fixated upon, but thinks of it as emptiness established by other-dependence, how can one introduce meditative equipoise without dualistic appearance? Is it not necessary to meditate on the union of appearance and emptiness? Some think, how can one meditate only on the empty side without any object of focus? That is not the meaning of it. Reversing the clinging to reality towards things is in accordance with the reality of emptiness. When meditating on emptiness, one does not need to meditate on appearance separately, because placing the mind on the emptiness of the self-nature of all phenomena or a particular phenomenon is meditating on emptiness, not that one must meditate on phenomena. Not fixating on phenomena is the nature of that phenomenon. Even if a beginner meditates on it for a while, how can it be nihilistic emptiness? Because it is thinking in accordance with the reality of things. In post-meditation, although all phenomena are without object of focus, the appearance of dependent arising

Just as from the infallible, there is no birth but it appears as birth; just as there is no cessation but it appears as cessation. Without the notion of contemplating that and its own nature, only with the force of awareness that is unreal and illusory, just like the time of recognizing the appearance of a dream. In meditative equipoise, it is like seizing the clear light of deep sleep. Repeatedly training all phenomena in aimlessness is like gathering the illusory body of a dream into clear light. By becoming accustomed to this, the meaning of the inseparability of emptiness and dependent arising, which is inconceivable, arises in the mind. As Shantideva said: All are like the sky, etc., and like the mind and views that are like the sky, etc. Just like these, not to mention ordinary beings, even noble learners meditate on the ultimate truth in meditative equipoise. In the subsequent attainment, engaging in generosity, etc., which are the conventional truths that arise from the state of ultimate unbornness, can only be done alternately. If one meditates on naked emptiness in meditative equipoise, then, at that time, that mind that meditates is meditating on the object of meditation, which is aimless and like the sky. The conventional phenomena that are the object of meditation do not give rise to or increase the emptiness of meditating on aimlessness, just like the form of the sky. When the mind that meditates and the emptiness that is meditated upon do not appear separately, and the mind represents it, and all phenomena appear in the state of the single aimless emptiness, that is true meditative equipoise. There is no duality. Therefore, the nature of reality never increases or decreases, and although it pervades all like the sky, there is no object of conceptual thought whatsoever, and at that time it abides like the sky at all times. All phenomena do not transcend it, and will not become transcendent. Therefore, realizing the nature of reality does not require a separate entity, because all entities are contained by it. This is also the emptiness that possesses all supreme aspects. At the time of the meditative equipoise of the noble ones, the appearance of the eight aggregates of consciousness ceases and disappears, but the wisdom of self-nature clear light or self-arisen wisdom exists, and it realizes non-duality with it. The ultimate clear light of mantra is also the same as that. Therefore, all phenomena appear from the clear light of self-nature, so this present aimlessness is also a part of the sphere of reality, so when meditating on it, the mind has grasping and clinging. This sphere of reality is the nature of reality of all phenomena, the dharmadhatu, it does not change.
