It must be both, just as considering existence and non-existence to be the same entity is contradictory and impossible to exist as an object of knowledge. If the entities of the two truths are not the same, they will also become contradictory. If appearance and emptiness are not the same entity, they will also become contradictory. In that case, the appearance of emptiness and dependent arising will become like fire and water. It is not permissible to admit that it is "both two" or "not two," because for any dharma that depends on any object, if it is not both, it must be not both; if it is not not both, it must be both. Because there is nothing in the knowable that is not both of these, clinging to the admission that "it is neither existent nor non-existent" is unreasonable, and this is the admission of those who hold this view. If "truly established" is added to all four extremes, then why eliminate the four extremes? It is enough to merely negate true establishment. If that is the case, then true establishment alone will eliminate the four extremes, so what do emptiness and dependent arising each do? This would become an admission that both the way of clinging to the four extremes without true establishment and their meaning exist in reality. The non-conceptual dharmadhatu completely eliminates all four extremes, and there is no need to add any distinctions, because it is beyond all networks of elaboration. How are the entity of a vase and the dharmata of a vase, permanence and reality, the same? On this basis of the identity of the two truths, there is the key to destroying all the tenets of others. If only the non-conceptual is the ultimate truth, and all objects of the three, namely, name, knowledge, speech, and entry, are considered conventional, then would one think that the two truths are different entities established by negating one? Because all names do not exist in reality. If we consider the ultimate truth of the conceptual, the entity of the two truths is the same, and the reverse is different. There is only one dharmadhatu, not many dharmadhatus. There is no distinction of the three times. All dharmas are of one taste in their entity, and all the intentions of all the Great Vehicles come from the non-conceptual. How does it arise in the conceptual? Because that is differentiated, with the three times of past, present, and future, sometimes existing, and is the dharmata of each individual thing, and so on. What is the emptiness of one, etc., is guided. According to the conceptual, the impermanence of one is the impermanence of all. The thing of one is the thing of all, and so on. If it becomes like that merely because of similarity, then all knowables will become the view of the naked heretics where this is that and that is this. If one sees the suchness of one thing, then all things are also like that.
