There, the words of expression are like pointing a finger at the moon, used only for the sake of understanding the meaning. If the meaning of the occasion is understood from the words that express the intention, then the necessity of the words ends there. Do not cling to the words themselves again. If the elaboration of words is emphasized, it will expand infinitely and delay the easy understanding of the meaning. Therefore, do not rely on words, but rely on meaning. The meaning to be taught by the scriptures also has two aspects due to necessity: the meaning of temporary guidance and the meaning of certainty, which is not merely guidance. Knowing the faculties, abilities, and thoughts of the beings to be tamed, the doors of Dharma spoken as a means of taming beings have many levels of high and low order, and their intended meanings must be well determined and grasped with reason. For example, considering other intentions due to necessity. The Teacher himself, considering equality, said, "At that time, I became perfectly enlightened." Considering other meanings, it is said, "All dharmas are without inherent existence," and "no form, no feeling," etc. These are not merely nominal, but are considered in the ultimate sense. Considering other times, it is said that merely holding the name of any Buddha will lead to rebirth in his pure land, although it is not certain that rebirth will occur immediately after this life, but this is considering that rebirth will definitely occur at some time. Considering the thoughts of individuals, for those who think that mere giving is sufficient, disparaging giving and praising ethics, and so on. However, in reality, ethics are superior to giving. Necessity is that which has its own meaning. Also, the so-called hidden meaning refers to the four ways that are generally not to be taken literally, but are distorted in other ways. The hidden meaning of introduction is for the sake of gradually introducing the listeners to the teachings. Saying that the skandhas, etc., of the selflessness of persons exist is only considering that they exist conventionally. The hidden meaning of characteristics is considering the three characteristics, or considering the ultimate truth, and saying that there is no inherent existence and that one is liberated from the beginning, and so on. The hidden meaning of the antidote is for the purpose of eliminating what should be abandoned from the minds of the beings to be tamed.

This is a separate explanation. In order to avoid considering the Buddhas as superior or inferior and thus despising them, it is said, as mentioned before, "I have become fully enlightened," and so on. To counteract the contempt that Dharma is easily attained, it is said that if one makes offerings to as many Buddhas as there are sands in the Ganges River, one will then generate faith in the Mahayana Dharma. This is said with the intention of attaining realization. For those who think they cannot learn the path, it is said that if one makes aspirations to be reborn in Sukhavati (Pure Land of Bliss), one will be reborn there. This, like the previous examples, is with consideration for other times. For those who think that only a small amount of merit is sufficient, this idea is disparaged, and other merits are praised. This is with consideration for the thoughts of beings. These four are expressed from the perspective of intention. Even if it is not for others, it is only with consideration for or in consideration of that person's thoughts. For those who have arrogance due to lineage, appearance, wealth, etc., praising other Buddha-fields and other beings makes them aware that they are inferior to others. To counteract attachment to contaminated objects, the wealth that transcends the world is especially praised. Because of harming sacred objects and engaging in sinful actions, when one is remorseful and the mind is very distressed, it is said that if one harms Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, one will be connected to happiness. This is with consideration for when one will attain happiness after confessing or exhausting sins. For uncertain Bodhisattvas who want to turn away from the Mahayana, it is said that there is only one vehicle. Although the fruits of the three vehicles are not obtained separately temporarily, this is with consideration for the ultimate. Therefore, by proclaiming the supreme vehicle, all obstacles and faults will be eliminated. If someone diligently keeps the words in mind or focuses on their meaning, like the dharani from the second verse. If one only upholds these two verses that show the eight antidotes, then that supreme being with wisdom will obtain ten qualities. What are the ten? The lineage is fully developed, and obtaining great joy at the time of death. These two are qualities that appear in this life. The eight that appear in future lives that are not seen are: a perfect body born as desired, a perfect mind that remembers past lives in every birth, and the perfection of the teacher, etc.
