Taking speech in that direction will lead to fame. However, Bodhisattvas who see the twelve links of dependent origination should not argue with others because they are diligent in the direction of virtue. The meaning of what the Bhagavan said is: it is rare to find wise people who understand the profound meaning of the sacred Dharma, speak with the intention of seeking knowledge, and are able to accurately distinguish meanings. One should abandon the faults of clinging to the evil side, such as mental confusion, contempt, deceit, and evil words, as well as the absence of disputes, protecting the minds of others, protecting samadhi, and the absence of thoughts of victory and defeat, thus making speech rare. If victory and defeat arise, there will be no afflictions; if afflictions arise, one will not abide in contact with bliss. Cultivating virtuous Dharma, and not cultivating virtuous Dharma, the mind remains equally. Even if one remains equally, it is rare to attain liberation. As it is said, most disputes are merely faults of attachment and aversion, and few can accurately distinguish meanings. Without these faults, if one properly examines the meaning of the Buddha's teachings with pure reasoning, and engages in discussions and debates, it will prevent non-Dharma and increase the Dharma. Among the four types of reasoning mentioned above, this reasoning of establishing the latter as valid, from the perspective of the basis, has two types: direct perception and inference; from the perspective of what is to be proven, there are two types: the appearance of conventional observation and the emptiness of ultimate observation, or it can be divided into the ultimate valid cognition that distinguishes the two truths as inseparable. From the perspective of the method of proof, there are two types: establishing as "is, exists" and negating as "is not, does not exist," which are the four limbs of negation and establishment; or temporarily divided into two types: negation and establishment, and ultimately, it is perfected in the self-awareness that transcends the elaboration of negation and establishment. Therefore, relying on the state of the two truths, examining properly with two valid cognitions or four reasonings, thereby being free from the stains of non-realization, mis-realization, and doubt, when correct and definite knowledge arises, the four reliances naturally arise. No matter what kind of person it is, he cannot attain purification and liberation by himself. Because the Dharma he teaches, if it is excellent and meaningful, can be accepted; if it is not meaningful, it cannot be accepted. One should not rely on the person, but should rely on the Dharma. Cho
