The Treatise Called "The Entrance to the Way of the Learned". The Treatise Called "The Entrance to the Way of the Learned". paṇḍitasyanayaavatāramukhanāmaśāstraviharatisma (Sanskrit Romanization). The Treatise Called "The Entrance to the Way of the Learned" exists. In Indian language: Paṇḍitasya nayaṃ avatāra mukha nāma śāstraṃ (Sanskrit Devanagari: पण्डितस्य नयम् अवतार मुख नाम शास्त्रम्, Sanskrit Romanization: Paṇḍitasya nayaṃ avatāra mukha nāma śāstraṃ). In Tibetan: The Treatise Called "The Entrance to the Way of the Learned". Homage to the Three Jewels! May the ten meanings be perfectly understood in the mind, and may the meaning of the four seals be shown to beings. May the sun of speech, the treasure of the undefiled Dharma light, enter into the heart. Here, in order to gain the wisdom that correctly establishes the objects of knowledge without error, one should learn the ten aspects of becoming learned, as taught in the Sutras and great treatises. What are these ten? They are: being learned in the aggregates (1), similarly in the elements (2) and the sense bases (3), and dependent origination (4), what is and is not the case (5), faculties (6), time (7), truths (8), vehicles (9), and being learned in the conditioned and unconditioned (10). By establishing these ten, one is freed from all the delusions of wrong views, such as abandoning the view of self, and one's wisdom of suchness and extent increases. There are five aggregates: the aggregate of form, the aggregate of feeling, the aggregate of perception, the aggregate of formation, and the aggregate of consciousness. Whatever form, in any way, in the three times of past, present, and future, and places near and far, and all kinds of good and bad forms, are included and established as the aggregate of form. Similarly, feeling and so on should also be known, because many are gathered together, it is called an aggregate. Among these, the aggregate of form, which has the characteristic of being able to be changed, can be divided into four causal forms and eleven resultant forms. The causes are the four great elements: the earth element, which has the function of being solid and holding the base; the water element, which has the function of being liquid and collecting; the fire element, which has the function of being warm and ripening; and the wind element, which has the function of moving and increasing. The eleven resultant forms are the five sense faculties, the five sense objects, and ten. According to the Abhidharmakośa, adding non-revealing form makes eleven. According to the Abhidharmasamuccaya, adding the form included in the dharma-āyatana makes eleven. These aggregates of form are established as existing through touch and attention.

Firstly, there is tactile sensation arising from contact with hands, sticks, wind, and so on. Secondly, there is the clear apprehension of "this object is like this" through focused or unfocused mental cognition. Thus, there are five sense faculties: the eye faculty, and similarly the ear, nose, tongue, and body faculties. These five faculties are each the uncommon, dominant condition for their respective consciousnesses, being internal, colored, and clear substances. For example, the eye faculty is like the utpala flower, the ear faculty is like rolled-up sheep's wool, the nose faculty is like aligned copper needles, the tongue faculty is like a crescent moon, and the body faculty is like soft bird's down. The five objects are: form, sound, smell, taste, and touch. Form is the object of the eye faculty, and it is divided into color and shape. The first has four root colors: blue, yellow, white, and red, and their branches include clouds, smoke, dust, mist, sunlight, shadow, light, and darkness. Furthermore, there is "manifestly visible" form, which is unobstructed by other objects, devoid of tactile sensation, like clear, empty space, and images are similar to this. Actions such as prostration are indicative forms. The blue sky above is a single color; these are explained for the purpose of including them within form. The mixing of components of the root colors gives rise to many different branches. Shapes include general descriptions such as long, short, square, round, high, low, thin, thick, flat, and uneven. Internal distinctions include triangles, crescents, ovals, and many others. These shapes and colors can be categorized into three types: good, bad, and intermediate. Sound is the object of the ear faculty, and it is divided into that which arises from the cause of apprehended elements, such as the speech of sentient beings and the sound of bells; that which arises from the cause of unapprehended elements, such as the sound of rivers and wind; and that which arises from both, such as the sound of drumming. There are distinctions such as that which indicates sentient beings and expresses meaning, that which does not indicate sentient beings and does not express meaning, that which expresses meaning and is conventionally named by worldly people, and that which is named by noble beings. These sounds have distinctions of pleasant, unpleasant, and intermediate. Smell is the object of the nose faculty, and it is divided into fragrant
