It should be known that their own nature is the same. Why is that? Because it is known by seeing that these things will eventually be destroyed and that the continuous states are different. If there is no change from the state of the first moment, it is unreasonable to have ultimate destruction and different differences in the middle. Even if it could constantly exist like the first moment that has just arisen, it is not so, which is obvious. If someone thinks, for example, that a vase is produced from causes such as clay, the actions of a person's hands, wheels, and sticks, and that the vase will remain constant as long as it does not encounter causes of destruction such as hammers. Then, the first moment that the vase is produced from the cause, from the time it is established, it will stop in the second moment and is of the nature of destruction. If it exists without stopping, then there will be no difference in the subsequent state. However, the vase has various states of different times and places, such as old and new, patterns and colors, water inside and no water, actions such as being held by a person's hand, and not doing so. Therefore, it should be known that the vase is a stream of moments that changes into other states of things by relying on the proximate cause of its own particles and the co-arising conditions of fire, water, blacksmiths, etc. When the vase has not moved from that place, has not changed into another shape, and has not encountered other conditions, even if the difference from before is not actually seen, it is impossible for the previous and subsequent moments to have no difference. Therefore, it should be known that from the time the vase is produced to the time it is destroyed, there are as many moments gathered as there are births and deaths. If children think that what hinders the vase from being constant is obtaining the cause of destruction, such as a hammer, which makes the vase impermanent, and that if it is not encountered, it is constant. That is not the case, because things that arise from the cause of their own production are by nature momentary destruction, so destruction does not need other causes. The hammer makes the vase's continuity non-existent, but it is not that the vase is constant and the hammer only begins to destroy it, if it were constant it could not be destroyed. However, the vase itself is momentary.

For things that have the nature of destruction, the immediately preceding cause of the last moment of a vase, and the cooperative cause of a hammer, lead to the state of fragments. For example, the material cause of clay and the auxiliary condition of hand movements lead to the first moment of a vase, although this is so, the hammer interrupts the continuous production of similar forms of the vase, so it is said that the hammer destroys the vase, it is only established as a cause of destruction. Relying on the phenomenon of gross continuous impermanence, saying that the hammer destroys the vase, this statement is not inconsistent with the facts, but if one does not understand the subtle nature of impermanence, thinking that the vase is temporarily permanent, and only due to the power of other causes of destruction does it become impermanent, this is a mistake. Therefore, from the collection of different causes and conditions, all similar and dissimilar states of things arise, all of which are the sequential arrangement of momentary series with the nature of dependent origination. Thus, things arise newly from causes, and while having the momentum of causes, similar forms exist continuously, and when the cause disappears, the similar continuum also ceases, appearing as three states of arising, ceasing, and abiding, and without relying on other causes, it naturally does not exist in the second moment, the noble ones see that this is the characteristic of impermanence. In this way, as stated in the scriptures, it is established by the reasoning of the power of things. Observing in this way, the external container world, wind, water, earth, and Mount Sumeru and diamonds, etc., which appear as solid things, are also newly formed in the realm of space like clouds due to the karma of sentient beings, existing temporarily, and eventually destroyed by fire, etc., becoming a state of emptiness. Like this, even while existing, the outer four elements and the five objects such as form, etc., are completely transformed into states of increase and decrease due to the power of conditions, and can be observed. Due to the power of past karma, the form of the external environment changes, similarly, people perform actions such as digging and burning, and are harmed by other elements such as fire, and completely change due to the decay of time, and the inner mind changes, and the external things also change in the same way.
