Some aspects of it are also referred to as the result that is concordant with the cause, depending on the circumstances. It should be known that this result is sometimes referred to as the result concordant with the cause that is its own immediate cause, and sometimes it is referred to as the agent result related to the co-existing condition and the completely established cause. All afflictions are produced by the five causes other than the ripening cause, and what is produced from ripening is produced by the five causes other than the pervasive cause, because it is not an affliction, so it is not produced by the pervasive cause. The remainder of these two, namely the minds of unspecified craftsmanship, etc., which are neither obscured nor declared, and the virtuous dharmas other than the first moment of the uncontaminated, are produced from the four causes other than the above-mentioned two causes of ripening and pervasiveness. Because the first moment of the uncontaminated does not have a similar equal share before itself, it is produced from three causes. All of these are in terms of mind and mental factors. For conditioned form and non-associated compositional factors that are not mind and mental factors, the other five causes should be combined as appropriate, except for the co-emergent cause. Non-virtuous actions of body and speech are afflicted dharmas, so there is production by the pervasive cause, and the rest are easy to understand. There are four conditions, namely the causal condition, which is the combination of the other five causes except for the agent cause and placed there. The immediately preceding condition is the former of the mind and mental factors that gives rise to its own later mind and mental factors. That is, all minds and mental factors, except for the last moment of mind when an arhat enters nirvana without remainder, are immediately preceding conditions. The objective condition is all dharmas, and consciousness arises by relying on it. The agent cause is called the dominant condition. Thus, among these four conditions, the objective condition and the immediately preceding condition are the only causes of consciousness, and the other two are the conditions for the production of all conditioned phenomena. Therefore, mind and mental factors are produced by four conditions. In particular, the other three conditions, except for the objective condition, produce the two mindless attainments of cessation and non-perception. Because only the mind is stopped there, there is no objective condition. The other form and non-associated compositional factors are produced from the two conditions of the agent cause and the dominant condition. Thus, this is how these causes arise.

One should understand the various distinctions within them through one's own wisdom. Thus, by demonstrating the nature of cause, condition, and effect, one generally realizes that all phenomena are merely interdependent arising; specifically, through the ripening cause, one understands that karma produces effects; through the cause of similar type, one understands that cause and effect are not confused, and the effect is in accordance with the cause; through the pervasive cause, one understands that afflictions are not inherent in the nature of the mind, but arise suddenly from causes, and therefore one learns how to abandon them by obstructing the cause; through the co-existent cause, one destroys the clinging to the cause as a whole and an agent, and realizes that the cause itself has many qualities; through the congruent cause, one destroys the clinging to the mind as a whole, permanent, and agent, and understands that it is produced by the assembly of many qualities. The efficient cause encompasses all other causes not included in the specific causes, and generally one understands that phenomena arise from the acquiring cause and the co-existent efficient condition. Thus, these six causes encompass all causes and enable one to understand how effects are produced. In terms of effects, the effect of ripening is shown to prevent the idea that this world does not arise from previous karma. Also, the effect of similar type is shown to realize that cause and effect are not confused, that black and white karma ripen separately, and that effects are in accordance with their causes. The effect of human agency is shown to refute the view of the naked ascetics and others who believe that only previous karma is the cause, and to understand that although it is not only previous karma, present causes can also produce effects, just as a person acts. Although they are not the effects of those specific causes, all effects of causes are included in the dominant effect, and by showing these, all effects of conditioned phenomena are shown in summary. The effect of separation is shown to understand that liberation, although unconditioned, can be attained through the power of the path. Thus, these six causes, which are divided according to need, can also be condensed into two. For the way of generating the mind, two are separated from these two, so through these four conditions, one can easily understand how inner awareness and outer phenomena arise.
