What is the ultimate truth? Its nature is eightfold, namely, view, which is the limb that thoroughly discerns the truth of suchness, and is for knowing. Similarly, conception is the limb that makes one understand, that is, the speech that shows others how one understands, is the conception that arouses everything, thereby making one understand. Speech, end of action, and livelihood are the three limbs that make others believe, that is, teaching the Dharma to others with pure speech, surpassing this, one will believe that one's view is pure; end of action, that is, having obtained the abandonment of all non-virtues such as killing, others will believe that the person whose end of action is completely pure has pure morality; abandoning all wrong livelihoods, with right livelihood, one will believe that one's livelihood is pure. The remaining three are the limbs that purify obscurations, that is, effort is the limb that purifies the obscuration of afflictions, mindfulness is the limb that purifies the obscuration of near afflictions, and concentration is the limb that purifies the obscuration that hinders the attainment of special qualities such as mastery. If these are summarized, they can be included in the nature of the three trainings, that is, view and conception are wisdom, speech, end of action, and livelihood are morality, and mindfulness, concentration, and effort are concentration. Friends are as mentioned above, and practice is as in the case of the limbs of enlightenment. The result, that is, the function of discernment and so on, is as mentioned above. Furthermore, the way these bodhipaksas are combined with the five paths is as explained in the context of the four truths, and the difference in the way the bodhipaksas are practiced in the great and small vehicles is that: when those of the lesser vehicle practice mindfulness, they mainly focus on their own body and so on as the object. Bodhisattvas focus on both the inner and outer body and so on, and are therefore superior. The way of attending to the mind is that those of the lesser vehicle only conceive and attend to the mind in terms of impermanence, suffering, selflessness, and so on. Bodhisattvas also know this in the subsequent attainment as mere designations, and engage in a way that does not cling to appearances as if they were illusions. In the ultimate truth, they are free from the two extremes of eternal and impermanent, suffering and non-suffering, self and selfless, empty and non-empty, and abide equally in the nature of reality with non-conceptual wisdom, and are therefore superior to the lesser vehicle.

Because the types of realization are extremely superior, by virtue of their power, all conceptual thoughts encompassed by grasping and the grasped are abandoned. For example, the grasper is divided into the truly existent and the nominally existent, and the grasped is divided into entering and returning, as well as the forms of universal purification, and includes the distinctions of these differences. As stated in the Mother Sutras and the Ornament for Clear Realization, the conceptual thoughts to be abandoned by the path of seeing and the path of meditation, for noble bodhisattvas, there is no clinging to true existence even in the subsequent attainment, only the conceptual thoughts of entering and returning with clinging to nominal existence. But in equipoise, even the clinging to nominal existence and the conceptual thoughts of entering and returning cease. On the pure grounds, whether in equipoise or subsequent attainment, because non-conceptual wisdom is fully matured, there are no conceptual thoughts. If one attains non-conceptual wisdom without the conceptual thoughts of entering and returning, then the meaning of completion, maturation, and purification will not be wasted at all, but will be effortlessly and spontaneously accomplished, and one must be skilled in this key point. What is meant by attainment is that Hearers and Solitary Realizers want to attain liberation from the contaminated and inferior body, etc., and similarly, they attain the fruit. Bodhisattvas, however, do not aim for either separation or non-separation from the body, etc., but through cultivating in accordance with the equality of suchness, they attain nirvana that does not abide in samsara or peace, and are therefore more superior. In this way, through the three distinctions, mindfulness close placement cultivation is more superior, therefore, in meaning, the higher and higher paths are also more superior in that way. Because the stages of realization of the path that increase from higher to higher are shown through the later limbs of enlightenment. These thirty-seven limbs of enlightenment are like a great path, a place to be entered by all noble ones, therefore the generation of bodhicitta corresponding to this is called like a great path. The calm abiding of calm and insight, is produced from the cause of abandoning the five faults, relying on the eight applications. The five faults are: laziness and forgetting the key points of practicing samadhi, these two obstruct the preparation for samadhi; inward sinking and outward scattering, these two obstruct the actual practice of samadhi; if sinking and scattering arise, not taking countermeasures, and even if they are pacified by countermeasures, still overexerting oneself, these two obstruct the special increase of samadhi.
