The object of focus is the body and so on. In order not to be confused about the body, which is the main cause of bad rebirths, the basis of craving, feeling, the basis of clinging to self, mind, and the basis of clinging to all things as pure, etc., dharma, four are explained. By properly focusing on these, one enters the Four Noble Truths. The nature of these four mindfulnesses is mindfulness and the wisdom that accords with it. The companions are the mind and mental factors that accord with these, and the companions should be understood in the same way in the following sections as well. How to meditate? The inner body is included in the inner self-continuum of the form realm. The outer body is included in the outer form realm. The body of both inner and outer is the outer form realm connected with the inner realm, the objects of the senses, and the inner realms of others' continuums. In short, everything that belongs to the form aggregate is the object of mindfulness of the body in this case. How to contemplate the body with the body? The Hearers contemplate in the manner of the four aspects of the truth of suffering, while the Bodhisattvas contemplate as illusion-like in name, and as freedom from elaboration, free from all extremes in ultimate truth, and become accustomed to not being distracted from that. Similarly, it should be understood that the objects of feeling, mind, and dharma are also objects of focus. The result of meditation is to abandon perversion and see the truth. The four right abandonments are: not generating unwholesome dharmas that have not arisen, abandoning those that have arisen, generating wholesome dharmas that have not arisen, and not allowing those that have arisen to decline. The objects of these four are the unwholesome dharmas that are the opposing side, and the wholesome dharmas that are the antidote, both of which have arisen and have not arisen. The nature is diligence. The companions are as before. How to meditate? After generating desire, one progresses from higher to higher by means of initiating diligence and so on. The result is to abandon the opposing side and increase the antidote. The four legs of miraculous power are: the leg of miraculous power of desire, and similarly diligence, mind, and the leg of miraculous power of investigation. The object of these is the activity of accomplishing samadhi. The nature is samadhi. That is, desire samad

I, Samadhi is the respectful practice of wishing to settle the mind on the object of focus, and through this, one can touch the one-pointedness of mind. Diligence is the constant practice of it, and through this, one obtains the one-pointedness of mind. Mind is the very fact of becoming one-pointed in mind on the object of focus, based on previous habituation. Investigation is the wisdom aspect of accomplishing Samadhi, and like the instructions on how to practice Samadhi previously shown by others, one obtains the one-pointedness of mind by skillfully distinguishing the Dharma, and even during the time of Samadhi, one can also use the wisdom that corresponds to it to abandon the faults of Samadhi and properly accomplish the qualities. The one-pointedness of mind accomplished by those four causes is Samadhi. These are practiced from higher to higher based on the eight kinds of abandoning intentions, and the result is that by the power of Samadhi, the meanings of the Dharmas that one wishes to manifest will be accomplished. The five faculties are: the faculty of faith. Likewise, diligence, mindfulness, Samadhi, and the faculty of wisdom. The objects of these are the Four Noble Truths. The essence is the individual essence of the five, such as faith. The companions are the mind and mental factors that correspond to them. The way to practice is to have faith in the truths, and the diligence of generating joy in them, and abiding without forgetting, and the one-pointedness of mind, and the way of skillful distinction, in that order. The result is the accomplishment of warmth and so on, which quickly realize the truths. The five powers are the power of faith and so on, similar to the previous case, the difference being that the opposing factors of each cannot be subdued. The objects and so on are the same as before. The seven branches of enlightenment are: the branch of mindfulness, perfect enlightenment. Likewise, discrimination of Dharma, diligence, joy, tranquility, Samadhi, equanimity, the branch of perfect enlightenment. The object of these is the true nature of the Noble Truths. The essence is those seven. The companions are as previously stated. Among these seven, mindfulness is a branch of the place, from the mindfulness that has been repeatedly practiced before, the direct seeing of the true meaning can arise, and through this, one can overcome what was previously unknown and unconquered.
