And daughters, relatives and the boundaries of relatives by ink, and like friends and companions, contemplating sentient beings in a pleasing manner with ten minds, from which arises the loving-kindness of wanting them to have happiness. Such a mind of loving-kindness is also repeatedly practiced, contemplating it pervading all sentient beings. Relying on any of the four dhyanas, the mind of loving-kindness is without hatred and enmity, and by focusing on all the edges of the ten directions of the world, it dwells pervadingly, which is the samadhi of loving-kindness. Even if it does not become samadhi, even meditating on the mind of loving-kindness for just a moment is said to have immeasurable benefits. By meditating on loving-kindness in this way, it pacifies the hatred that arises from the nine bases of pervasive torment, which are contrary to its clinging. The nine bases of torment are: the thought that this person has harmed me in the past, is harming me now, and will harm me in the future; similarly, applying it to my friends, there are three; for my enemies, the thought that this person has given benefit, is giving benefit, and will give benefit. The benefits of loving-kindness, the eight qualities of the Dharma of loving-kindness are: gods and humans will be loving, non-humans will protect, mental happiness will increase, physical happiness will increase, poison will not harm, weapons will not injure, one will obtain things without effort, and one will be reborn in the Brahma world. To meditate on dependent origination as an antidote to ignorance is: as mentioned above, all phenomena, internal and external, arise dependently, thereby establishing the meaning of arising without permanence or annihilation, and by repeatedly practicing in this way, one will be separated from all ignorance. If pride is strong, one should meditate on the division of elements, which also has seven types of pride: focusing on those with less qualities than oneself, thinking that I am greater than this person, equal or the same as me, this is just pride or small pride. Even more than those who are equal, thinking that I am greater or superior, holding oneself equal to the great, this is great pride. Even more than the great, thinking that I am superior, this is pride that is even greater than pride. Thinking "I", clinging to the five aggregates of appropriation as me and mine, this is the pride of "I". Thinking that one has attained superior qualities that have not been attained, this is manifest pride. Being slightly inferior to the most superior, but

However, arrogance arises from slightly thinking "good." The perverted arrogance that arises from mistaking faults, which are not virtues, as virtues. In order to pacify these, analyze the basis of "I," these aggregates of oneself, into the six elements of earth, water, fire, wind, and space, and analyze the elements to the ultimate limit of minute particles. Analyze the various forms of consciousness, such as pleasure and pain, virtue and non-virtue, into moments at the limit of time, and practice this. Furthermore, this body has various arrangements of thirty-six impure substances, and it is the nature of ultimate particles. Like an accumulation of mixed barley and rice, analyze with wisdom, and thus separate the five aggregates into parts and portions, and individually observe their nature of arising and ceasing in an instant. Through habituation, one can dispel the concepts of wholeness, oneness, and permanence, the realm of ignorant nature, and thus stop the arrogance of "I." All the root arrogance of that will be pacified, and the meaning of selflessness will be seen. Because of strong conceptualization, by habituating mindfulness of breathing, the abiding of the mind will be accomplished. Thus, merely counting the number of breaths, such as ten times, without error, one can focus on this. The mind follows the breath as it goes in and out of the body. Abide the breath from the tip of the nose to the soles of the feet, like a string of jewels extending. Observe and nearly realize the breath that is being breathed, which is the nature of the five aggregates composed of eight minute dust substances and the mind that depends on them. Combine the breath with warmth and other virtues, transform the object, and focus on this. Combining the breath with the paths of seeing, meditation, and no-more-learning, and contemplating it, is called complete purification. Thus, by focusing the mind on the breath in six ways, one can pacify conceptualization. These are some categories of Dharma related to the Truth of the Path, mentioned in passing. Furthermore, in order to establish the nature of what is known by the Buddhas, the two truths, conventional truth and ultimate truth, are taught. Among them, conventional truth is the Dharma as it appears.
