The state of cutting off the continuum of illusory results, the supreme state to be sought and attained by a person with the nature of permanence and holiness. Cessation is the nature of peace, magnificence, and certainty, which is nirvana. It is divided into the Hinayana nirvana, which is only nearly pacified from the suffering of samsara, and the particularly superior Mahayana non-abiding nirvana. The classification of cessation by name includes: incomplete cessation, which refers to the cessation of learners included in the first three fruits such as stream-enterers; complete cessation, which refers to the cessation of non-learners included in the fruit of arhatship. Furthermore, the cessation obtained by temporarily suppressing the seeds to be abandoned by worldly paths is called imputed cessation; the cessation obtained by completely cutting off the seeds to be abandoned by the wisdom of the noble ones is called the ultimate cessation. There are two types of arhats: the unadorned, who are arhats liberated from all defilements by wisdom; and the adorned, who have attained the eight liberations and are even liberated from mental equipoise. In short, they are liberated from both aspects, possessing the three knowledges and six supernormal powers. There are also two classifications: with remainder and without remainder. Cessation is profound because it is merely the cessation of the continuum of formations, and it is the pacification of other and non-other elaborations. It is unconditioned, free from demons, becomes a place, continent, and protector, etc., transcends the realm of the flesh eye and the divine eye, therefore it is difficult to see, unmoving, without death and transmigration, free from all suffering, and is bliss and virtue, etc. When an arhat who has realized cessation attains it, they also possess the distinctions of qualities. With the three knowledges of previous lives, exhaustion of defilements, death, and rebirth, they dispel confusion about the past, present, and future, therefore they possess the three non-learning knowledges, and liberation from the obscurations of defilements and equipoise, as well as the six supernormal powers, ten knowledges, the nine successive abidings of gradual abiding, liberation, and exhaustion and subjugation, and the three samadhis of liberation, without defilements, knowing according to aspiration, the ten non-learning dharmas, the five uncontaminated aggregates, etc., possessing many qualities.

It should be understood in this way. The truth of the path is the path by which suffering is completely known, the origin is abandoned, cessation is realized, and the path is cultivated. There are five paths: the path of accumulation, the path of preparation, the path of seeing, the path of cultivation, and the path of consummation. The first is the path of accumulation: focusing on any of the three desired fruits of enlightenment, the virtuous roots that are its cause, and the wisdom of hearing, thinking, and meditating that obtains that fruit, and possessing the morality of ordinary beings, guarding the doors of the senses, knowing the measure of food, not sleeping in the upper or lower parts of the night, etc., diligently practicing the yoga of the four mindfulnesses, and delighting in abiding in mindfulness. By these causes, one's own self becomes a vessel for the place of realization and liberation. In the small path of accumulation, the cultivation of the four mindfulnesses is increased, in the middle, diligence with the nature of the four right abandonments arises, and in the great, samadhi with the nature of the four legs of miraculous power arises. The path of preparation is the effort to increase the meaning explained in the path of accumulation, obtaining the virtuous roots corresponding to the part of definitive liberation, namely the four: heat, etc. Among them, heat is the samadhi and wisdom that each individually obtains the appearance of the truths, like obtaining the warmth of the fire of the wisdom of the path of seeing. The peak is the samadhi and wisdom that the appearance of the truths increases, becoming the peak among the shaking of the virtuous roots by unfavorable factors. In these two, the five faculties of faith, etc., which have power over purification, arise. The forbearance that accords with the truth is the samadhi and wisdom that enters and follows one side of the truths, even if it is an ordinary being, it can understand the meaning of the nature of reality well in a general way. The highest worldly dharma is the samadhi and wisdom that each individually arises immediately to the truths with one's own consciousness, because it is immediately before the path of seeing, it is close to it. It is the most excellent among worldly dharmas, because after it, the path of seeing, the ground of the noble ones, will arise. Forbearance
