to do. Dullness and sleep are two. Agitation and regret are two, and because they have the same function, they are combined into one. Furthermore, the three, attachment, hatred, and ignorance, bind oneself, and are also called the three bonds. That is, the bond of attachment, the bond of hatred, and the bond of ignorance. The same applies to the following. Due to past habits, one still practices them now, and without abandoning them, the three burdens are those that the mind cannot be subjected to and are difficult to separate from. Similarly, for these three, there are three stains due to impure morality. Relying on these, one experiences birth and death for a long time, and there are three sins. Because of these, one wanders in samsara and doubts the Three Jewels and the Four Truths, so there are three darts. Because of these, one dwells in much hatred, fear, and distraction, so there are three such as the heaviness and lightness of attachment. Furthermore, because of these, the three doors are used wrongly, so there are three misdeeds. Relying on these, one is impoverished by desire, so there are three impoverishments. Relying on these, the body and mind are completely tormented, so there are three complete torments. Because of these, one takes various births in the forest of existence, so there are three forest combinations. Because they become obstacles to liberation, there are three obstacles. Similarly, there are three conflicts. Three fights. Three poisons. Three plagues, and so on. There are also three outflows, namely, in the realm of desire, which is the basis of not being equally placed, the mind looks outward. Scattering and producing outflows, namely the outflow of desire. In the basis of meditative equipoise, in the two upper realms, the mind looks inward and produces outflows, namely the outflow of existence. The place of these two outflows, the outflow of ignorance, is said to be three in total. Among these afflictions, anger is not present in the two upper realms. The others are present in all three realms. How many of the afflictions that exist in the three realms are the antidotes to be abandoned on the paths of seeing and meditation? In the path of seeing, there are four to be abandoned by seeing the Four Truths of suffering, origin, cessation, and path. Adding those to be abandoned by the path of meditation, they are divided into five categories. In this desire realm, there are ten to be abandoned by seeing the truth of suffering, namely five views and five non-views. That is, the three corruptions of the view of the perishable aggregate, the extreme view, and the wrong view, and the five of ignorance and doubt, are directly and wrongly engaging with the nature of the truth of suffering. The fruit of the contaminated, the peak of the appropriation of the result

This "I" is in the sense of being without self and without permanence or annihilation, but because of ignorance, it is clung to as self, clung to as permanence or annihilation, clung to as without cause and effect, and because of doubt about the truth. Attachment, pride, and the two kinds of holding as supreme, these four are called entering into evil in the wrong path, that is, clinging to what is without self and the nature of phenomena as self, and developing attachment and pride towards that wrong view, and also holding as supreme what is not a means of liberation. Anger is entering into evil through power, that is, because of the power of clinging to self, etc., anger arises towards things that are not in accordance with one's own wishes. Seeing the truth of the origin, what is to be abandoned is not regarded as self in the aggregates that have become the cause, and because of that power, that self is not clung to as permanent or annihilated, and the aggregates that are merely the origin of suffering are not discipline and asceticism, so there is no clinging to them as supreme, and it is held that the remaining seven, except for these three, should be abandoned. It is the same for cessation, which is also seven. Seeing the truth of the path, what is to be abandoned is that on top of the seven, the wrong path is also regarded as the right path, so it is to be abandoned by this, so it is also considered that discipline and asceticism should be abandoned as supreme, so it is said to be eight. For cessation and path, anger is also actually present in entering into evil, because there is fear and hatred towards that cessation and path, although it is said so, it seems that fear and hatred arise due to the power of the view of self. Thus, in the desire realm, there are thirty-two to be abandoned by seeing. In the two upper realms, since there is no anger, there are twenty-eight each, so in the three realms, the total number of things to be abandoned by seeing is eighty-eight. In the desire realm, the things to be abandoned by the path of meditation are attachment, anger, pride, and ignorance, and in the two upper realms, there are three each except for anger, so the total number of things to be abandoned by meditation is ten. Thus, in the desire realm, the total number of things to be abandoned in all five categories is thirty-six. In the form realm there are thirty-one, and in the formless realm there are also thirty-one, so the total number of things to be abandoned in the three realms is ninety-eight, according to the Treasury of Knowledge. According to the Abhidharmasamuccaya, the five views and the five non-views, these ten all function without difference on the four truths, because clinging to the basis of those as self, clinging to permanence or annihilation, and holding as supreme the path that is not the cause of liberation, so seeing their respective truths can abandon them, and there is no difference in this.
