"Na" refers to splitting the fourfold Sangha while the Buddha is still alive, leading them to other paths. Karmic division refers to dividing the Sangha community. The five near-misses similar to the five inexpiable sins are: a mother who is also not an Arhat, refuted by wrong views; killing a Bodhisattva residing in a place; killing a noble learner; seizing the door of the Sangha assembly; destroying a stupa. Among the ten non-virtues, wrong view is the heaviest, as it severs the root of virtue. Due to its power, no virtue can remain in its continuum, and it leads to birth in the Avici hell. This is because, on the basis of a human being, due to causes such as hearing evil treatises of nihilistic views, not merely indulging in desire, but through the practice of views, firmly believing that there is no cause and effect, the root of virtue is severed. Or, relying on conditions, doubt arises as to whether there is cause and effect, and when one connects with the idea that existence is more likely and holds it to be existent, the root of virtue will be regained. Furthermore, the four actions that generate Brahma's merit in this life are: building a Tathagata stupa in a place where there was none before; offering gardens and temples to the Sangha of the four directions; reconciling the divisions of the Buddha's Shravakas; cultivating immeasurable loving-kindness. As stated in the sutras, there are many other categories as well. In terms of the field of merit, the merit of offerings made to parents, the sick, preachers, and the last-born Bodhisattva is immeasurable. The field of merit becomes increasingly superior, from higher to higher, up to the Buddha. The field of suffering is lower and lower, and giving to the poor and ordinary pretas, and especially to tormented pretas, is of greater benefit, as stated in the sutras. Among all sins, severing the root of virtue with wrong views, and abandoning the Dharma, etc., causing harm to the Three Jewels, are the most serious and intolerable. Among all merits, the most supreme and inconceivable merits are: generating the mind of unsurpassed Bodhi, meditating on the meaning of equality, teaching the Mahayana Dharma, etc., which should be understood in detail from the sutras. Furthermore, all actions, whether virtuous or non-virtuous, in which the mind equally engages, are the doer.
