Below, it is shown through strength. The six difficult practices to endure and the six that do not change due to conditions come from both the wisdom and diligence chapters of that sutra. Even though the Bodhisattva is stopped by a short spear in this good hand, it is shown by those who have heard much, etc. Cold and heat, hunger and thirst, harsh words and the path of harsh words are clearly visible. The five of fatigue and labor, such as the touch of a poisonous snake, etc., and the three strong sensations of the body are shown. Although there is no occasion for giving and forbearance here, it is clearly shown in meaning in the context above and below. Even sacrificing one's life is especially to seek the Dharma. Without being stopped by a short spear, accumulating hearing, etc., the six are actually present. Like this, by "relying," one should completely rely on and respect those who understand the meaning of hearing. The six special things to do come from the meditation chapter of that sutra. When he enters into meditation, he places his mind close to the object with all the roots of virtue, etc., to show. Except for the second, the other five are actually spoken. The second is the main thing to be shown in the meditation chapter, so it is elevated through meaning. Accomplishing the six necessary things, although not directly apparent when asked by Light Protector, in the twenty-first chapter of the Ratnakuta Sutra, in the prediction of the illusionist Good Man, it says: These four good men are the essence of the Bodhisattvas' extensive hearing. Which four? Having heard, to know the Dharma distinctly, this is its essence. Having heard, not to do what should not be done, this is its essence. Having heard, to teach others, this is its essence. Having heard, to be liberated from that meaning, like leading to the Bodhi of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, this is its essence. These are the four. The Good Man Bodhisattva, seeing these benefits, will seek hearing, which four? Subduing the wisdom of oneself and others, cutting off the doubts that come from the four directions, holding the true Dharma, and the Buddha's inexhaustible praise, these are the four. Therefore, the last two are also shown by meaning to be included in the first five, and here they are made into six.

Ah! Furthermore, in various sutras, these contents are explained in various ways, with different quantities, classifications, and summaries. The six kinds of seeking are: In the twenty-first section of the third fascicle of the Avatamsaka Sutra, it says, "O sons of the Victorious Ones! These ten are the complete seeking of the Dharma. What are the ten? Like this, with a mind free from deceit and falsehood, sincerely and wholeheartedly seeking the Dharma completely." And so on, as explained in the chapters. Six are actually present: unremitting diligence, not caring for body and life, not just hearing but practicing, and seeking with bodhicitta and compassion. These four, apart from being distinguished by necessity, are actually included in the other six in meaning. Therefore, here they are summarized into six and explained through oral instructions. Like this, these six sets of twelve aspects of faults and merits are the profound key points of the oral instructions for bodhisattvas to correctly gather the Dharma. If studied well, it will be found to be a wonderful method of compiling the intentions of various sutras, and it is also helpful for the difficult points of these sutras, which is very wonderful. If these sutras and this great treatise are combined and studied, one can obtain the entry of wisdom, so it is hoped that future individuals with the eye of Dharma will study it well. The eighty-four aspects of listening are mentioned in the Sutra Requested by Inexhaustible Intelligence. That is, the three aspects of not abandoning diligence, having firm faith in the Dharma, and the antidote to afflictions, which are in the sutra, are not present here. The four aspects that are not in the sutra, cultivating respect, bowing, calming speech, and listening with good conduct, are present here. In the sutra, the aspect of good deeds and the aspect of non-regret are enumerated separately, while here the aspect of the activity of good deeds and non-regret are counted as one, but otherwise everything else is the same. In general, there are also differences in quantity in the Chinese versions, which is what the Indian scholars said. These kinds of contents were also composed from the mind of the Omniscient Great Master himself, and are the same as the special Chinese versions, so they were left without being newly modified. The meaning of these contents, if explained briefly like Vasubandhu's commentary on the Inexhaustible Intelligence Sutra, starts from how to listen to the Dharma and the merits obtained from listening to the Dharma, and speaks of eighty-four aspects. The so-called aspect
