Because nothing can be found from ashes and heat that is not fire, they are not different. The so-called 'non-wasting substance' refers to the fact that there is nothing else that produces the results of karma. Karma and its results are merely interdependent, and there is no evidence to suggest that there is a 'non-wasting substance' that is different from form and mind. Generally prohibiting attainment, and the fact that such a particular substance has no necessary ability, etc., there are rational harms, so it is unreasonable. Secondly, the Sautrāntika school's view is the same as that of the Sarvāstivāda school. The difference is that they believe there are four producing conditions: appearance is mind, the object is hidden, there is no interval between particles, the sense faculties have power, non-associated things are imputed, and nirvāṇa is non-existent. They speak of the seven ways of establishing a thesis, but this is not a correct view because it has the fault of asserting existence. Among them, the four producing conditions are: the causal condition is merely able to help the result, that is, to produce the essence; the dominant condition is merely not obstructing, that is, to produce the difference of the result; the objective condition is the object of knowledge; the immediately preceding condition is the immediately after the cessation of the previous consciousness, the subsequent consciousness of the same kind is produced. Among them, within the category of causal conditions, there are concurrent, universal, equipotential, agent, and co-emergent causes, that is, it includes the five causes. Therefore, mind and mental factors arise from the four conditions; the two samādhis without mind arise from the three conditions except for the objective condition; all other non-associated formations and forms arise from the two conditions of causal condition and dominant condition. Appearance is mind, which means that all appearances, such as universals, appearances of non-existence, and self-characteristics, are considered to be one's own real consciousness, which is the same as the view of the Vijñānavāda school. The object is hidden, which means that the appearance of universals and non-existence are merely appearances, and there is no self-characteristic independent of the appearance. And the appearance of self-characteristics, like the external object projecting its own image onto the consciousness, the image of the consciousness is like the object. In fact, objects like a vase can never be seen directly, it is no different from the appearance and location of the vase, but exists hidden. In the first moment, when the three conditions of object, sense faculty, and consciousness are gathered, the image of the object appears outside like an image in a mirror, because the similarity is experienced, it is consciousness.

This is named as experiencing places. The non-intervening atom is: when forming coarse matter, it is not reasonable for the subtle atoms to either have or not have gaps, therefore, non-intervening means neither adhering nor separating, thus it is not touching nor adhering, or because of non-intervention, it adheres but the surface does not touch. Therefore, it is called non-touching adhesion. Considering the sense faculty as power means: the substance of the sense faculty does not exist in the hidden, but refers to a power that can generate the respective consciousnesses of the eye, etc. This also arises from the power of the previous consciousness. Relying on this, eye consciousness, etc., arise, so it is considered to be established by the certainty of subsequent going and returning. Considering non-associated formations as imputed means: formations that are neither associated nor disassociated, such as arising and ceasing, are not established as either the same as or different from form, mind, and mental factors, therefore they are imputed, just like a rabbit's horn, merely a name. This is how it is considered. Considering Nirvana as non-entity means: when the three vehicles pass into Nirvana, the aggregates and seeds are severed, just as clouds dissipate in the sky, it is considered to be inseparable from the Dharmadhatu of cessation, and considering that there is nothing is the same as the Materialists. However, this does not consider that the separated substances exist separately. If these methods are examined, then, whether cause and effect meet or do not meet, whether they are simultaneous or not simultaneous, whether they produce a result or not. If one examines which of the four extremes, such as self-arising, is the way of arising, then, from the ultimate point of view, arising from conditions is not established. If appearance is mind and the object is hidden, then the distinction between what is to be measured, the manifest, and the hidden is difficult to establish. Because the object may also appear in the hidden, therefore the truth of external objects is not established. Furthermore, if there is no gap between atoms, then it would be too adherent to become one. If it does not touch or adhere, then it would be too much to have a gap, and there is no third possibility. The power of the sense faculty is also obstructed by the obstruction of the sense faculty from the ultimate point of view. From the conventional point of view, the sense faculty itself can generate consciousness, so there is not much need to establish it as power. If non-associated formations are only imputed, then impermanence does not abide in the knowable, so it would fall into the doctrine of the Samkhya school that speaks of permanence. Nirvana is not merely a non-entity of cessation, because the Nirvana of the Hinayana does not exhaust the obscurations, so it is not ultimate. The Buddhas have not exhausted their benefit for others, and there is no cause for the cessation of wisdom, so they will not
