Abridged Tenets of the Wish-Fulfilling Treasury Abridged Tenets of the Wish-Fulfilling Treasury Abridged Tenets of the Wish-Fulfilling Treasury. Homage to Guru Manjughosha! Here, a brief summary of the meaning of the twelfth chapter of the Wish-Fulfilling Jewel Treasury, the Great Treasury of Tenets. Among the objects of knowledge, which abide in the two categories of what is to be abandoned and what is to be adopted, firstly, regarding the six teachers of the non-Buddhist extremists who are to be abandoned: Pūraṇa Kāśyapa (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思) believes that there are no results of actions in previous and future lives, no arhats, and no spontaneous births. Makkhali Gosāla believes that there is no bondage or liberation, and that everything arises naturally. Sañjaya Belaṭṭhiputta believes that there are no fruits of virtue or vice, which will be refuted below by the view of Pūraṇa Kāśyapa. Pakudha Kaccāyana believes that everything is done by time. Regarding this, the reasoning of examining encounters refutes the true establishment of time. Even if there is time, if the path is not cultivated, afflictions will not be pacified, so the view of liberation by time is also refuted. For the Great Kālacakra, since there are both the blessings of the Buddha and the devotion of the followers, differences in transformation arise, so it is different from that. Ajita Kesakambalin holds the view of evil deceit, not accepting anything. Whatever is asked, whether the world exists or not, is permanent or impermanent, etc., he says that one should not prophesy according to what is asked, which is contradictory. For example, if something like a pillar cannot be expressed as any one thing, then it would follow that it is non-existent, and similarly, not accepting anything is the same. Nigaṇṭha Nātaputta believes that everything arises from past actions. Since he does not see present actions producing present results, he believes that liberation is achieved by exhausting the power of past actions. Regarding this, are body and mind and actions one or different? By which agent, past, present, or future, is this action done? Since the agent is the agent, there are four possibilities such as the agent. Whether the one who experiences the ripening is permanent or impermanent, etc., by examining, self-establishment is refuted. Even in conventional terms, if only action is the cause, then for killing and giving alms, etc., only the action of that object is the cause, so it is unreasonable for the agent to experience the result. Since the actions are similar and only action is the cause, there is no obstacle for present actions to produce present results. Old actions are also not established by nature, because they are refuted by the reasoning that actions have no beginning, etc. The twenty views of the perishable aggregate are

The five views that each of form, etc., is self are: If I am the aggregate, then I would become impermanent and multiple, therefore it is refuted. I exist in it. I arise from it. I have power over it. These fifteen views are refuted because self and the aggregates are not clearly distinguished as different. Among the sixty-two views, there are eighteen that rely on the prior extreme and forty-four that rely on the posterior extreme. The first is: Four who assert that all is permanent. Four who assert that some are annihilated. Four who assert that the end is finite or infinite. Four who assert that they evade the gods. Two who assert that there is no cause, totaling eighteen. Among these, the first four are those who, in the past, saw continuous rebirths between thirty, sixty, and ninety kalpas, and from one household to another, and thought that there was no end to the past and future, therefore asserted that all the world is permanent. Although the assertions are similar, they are divided into four because the teachers are different. The second is those who believe that the Great Brahma is permanent while other gods are impermanent; those who believe that the gods who rebuke are impermanent while other gods are permanent; those who believe that the gods who deceive with delight are impermanent while others are permanent; and those who believe that the gods of the form realm are impermanent while the gods of the formless realm are permanent, these four. The third is the four who say that the world has an end, is endless, is both, or is neither. The fourth is based on the vow that in the past, when disputes arose in some places among non-Buddhists, they would say, "One should say that they evade the gods." Four types of people with little wisdom, untrained in tenets, uncertain even if trained, and with pride in manifest realization, when asked what their view is, merely say, "Evading the gods," from which these four arise. This is also because they fear that directly stating their view would not be established, so they think that merely refuting "evading the gods" would not cause much debate, therefore they say whatever is convenient, and there is no difference other than that, but due to the four types of minds, it first arose and then divided into four. The assertion of no cause has two types, relying on meditation and reasoning. The first is that some who have transferred from the realm of non-perception, when examining through meditation, do not realize the subtle alaya-consciousness of the realm of non-perception, nor do they realize the subtle material cause of the container world, therefore they think that the container and its contents arose without cause, and they say so. The second is that, relying on the clouds that suddenly appear in the sky, they say that all the world arose suddenly without cause. By these
