That is, the distractions of the places where individual beings who have not attained freedom have been transmigrating in samsara one after another from beginningless time are cut off by the power of wisdom, so that they will never again transmigrate there due to karma and afflictions. If the power of wisdom and samadhi as mentioned above is not complete and has not become emptiness, the three secret enemies are hot like a blazing fire, burning one's own continuum; the four terrifying maras are sharp like weapons, attacking life; the dangerous places of the six realms are like a torrential waterfall of wisdom, which is difficult to stop, so all of this must be cut off by one's own mind. Therefore, when encountering the instructions of the Sugata and his sons, the vidyadharas, such as this Buddha holding a hand, one must cultivate the mind on the essential points of the steep places with intense diligence without delay, so as to follow the tenets of the yogic masters. Third, what is called life is the Dharmadhatu Bodhicitta, which is the life that pervades all of samsara and nirvana, or the life that is spontaneously present by nature, and the primordial Vajra life. This is to be determined by view. Among them, there is no object to be taken, taker, or act of taking, but when one gains conviction in its meaning, one obtains the life of all of samsara and nirvana at once. Therefore, for this essential point of view, it is called taking with the secret life view, which is the term for taking the empty life of samsara and nirvana. While the nature of reality remains in such a state, when various appearances of phenomena, samsara and nirvana, arise, whether they appear as pure or impure, whatever Buddha or sentient being appears in the respective continuums, the three doors of that same continuum and the roots that abide harmoniously, like the pith of a tree, are called life. By taking it, one can make whatever one does become as one wishes. Moreover, the manifestation of wind and mind is extremely subtle, and it is the basis of all coarse aggregates, mainly existing in the heart in the form of letters. For the pure Buddhas, the wind of wisdom and the appearance of wisdom also exist in the form of mind-life. For humans and other beings,

The great mothers reside in their respective hearts as the essence of their individual seeds. It is said that non-human beings also have their respective life-syllables, and they also reside in external objects. In particular, for the Buddhas who have completely realized the meaning of the nature of reality and thus have obtained power over their innate life, their lives do not transmigrate, they are equal to the realm of Dharma, and they have attained the immortal Vajra body. Sentient beings who have not realized the meaning of the nature of reality rely on the life-force of their respective supports in the six realms, and they abide until their respective lifespans are exhausted. Because their lives are unstable, they possess a lifespan that is subject to decline and change. Those who are particularly consumed by the five poisons and are arrogant due to the power of karma, the lives of demons and Yama, which arise from anger, are like iron wolves, the size of bumblebees, located eighty thousand yojanas below Mount Meru, inside a doorless iron city, placed inside a black rhinoceros hide box, and sealed with iron seals. The lives of the arrogant mothers and yakshas, who are born from desire, are like copper sand grains, the size of a snipe's head. Deep in the great ocean, inside a tent made of jade, they are placed in a jade box and sealed with iron seals. The lives of the arrogant ones who are born from ignorance, the four castes of nagas, are like black poisonous snakes with wings, placed inside a turtle shell, fastened with blue nails, and residing in a fragrant lake. The lives of the arrogant ones who are born from pride, the planets and kings, are like conch eagles, the size of sparks, placed inside a conch shell box, soaring in the sky, driven by the wind in all directions. The lives of the arrogant ones who are born from jealousy, the Mu and Tsen, are like copper tigresses, the size of birds, placed inside a copper gau box, locked with a Bonpo latch, and residing in the depths of rocks and snow. The lives of medicine and Masang are like silver sand grains, placed inside a white silk bag, residing in the corner of a meadow. The teacher Jampal Shenyen, having seen that the life-forces of the eight classes of gods and demons reside in this way, extracted from the Great Tantra of Jampal Namdom, and for the benefit of future generations, composed the reality of opening the latch of life, and the key instructions for distinguishing between the lives and souls of the deceased and the not-yet-deceased. Thus it is explained.
