Pa. It arises by relying on the superiors. It is said. In particular, all the accomplishments of the profound secret mantras arise by relying on the lama, and never otherwise. One who has not been matured by the lama through empowerment does not even have the fortune to hear the secret mantras. Even after receiving empowerment, the common and uncommon instructions must be learned from the lama's teachings. Even if one engages in minor mantra activities without being taught or receiving instructions, there is the fault of stealing the Dharma, and the practice is in vain and does not bear fruit, and so on. Therefore, no matter how great or small the mantra accomplishment is, it can only be achieved by pleasing the lama and receiving blessings. Even if you ask for a teaching on how to accomplish a minor activity, if you please the lama with offerings, etc., it will be accomplished without difficulty, but if you do the opposite, faults will arise, as is widely stated in the scriptures and histories. It is important to gain certainty about this. In particular, the realization of coemergent wisdom, which is beyond the words and examples of the nature of reality, can only be achieved through the lama's instructions or the transference of blessings of the meaning lineage, and cannot be achieved by any other means. As it is said in the tantra: The coemergent, which cannot be expressed by others, cannot be found anywhere. The lama teaches the means of time, and it is known from one's own merit. As it is said, and so on, it is repeatedly stated in the scriptures and commentaries. For example, even if there is a sun, if there is no focusing tool, a fire crystal, there is no way to generate fire from wood. Similarly, even if the Buddhas of the three times and their retinues are already present, if there is no lama, the blessings of the deities and profound realizations cannot enter the disciple's mindstream. Therefore, the lama alone is the root of blessings, the source of accomplishments, and the basis of activities. In the past, when accomplished vidyadharas directly showed the yidam deity to their disciples, some disciples clung too much to the yidam, causing the interdependent connection to be disrupted and they did not achieve accomplishment. Therefore, the lama himself is the embodiment of all the Buddhas. The wisdom mind of a qualified lama is the essence of all the Buddhas. In the pores of the lama who possesses the blessings of the lineage, countless victorious ones reside and bestow blessings.

It is said that one's own guru is equal to all Buddhas in terms of merit, and in terms of kindness, although many Buddhas and Bodhisattvas exist, for me, who has the misfortune of not seeing them, he is even more superior to the Buddhas because he performs the actions of the Buddhas and their sons. Therefore, if one makes offerings to the guru who reveals the secret mantra, who is known as the embodiment of all refuges or the fourth refuge, even if one worships a single pore of his skin, it is far more superior than worshipping the Buddhas of the ten directions. And if one despises him, it is far more serious than displeasing the Buddhas of the ten directions. The meaning of this is widely spoken of in the tantras and agamas, and one should keep this in mind. Those who desire the accomplishments of mantra should rely on the guru vidyadhara. As it is said in the Root Tantra of Vidyadharas: "Therefore, the first practitioner should, from the very beginning, strive to rely closely on the vidyadhara." As it is said, the practice of the blessing guru is extremely important. The great Orgyen (莲花生大师) in the great commentary on the generation and completion stages of the Union of the Bliss-Gone Ones said that the vidyadhara is the guru to be practiced, and this is extremely important. In the generation stage, meditate on whatever deity you practice, and meditate on the guru on its crown. Generate the retinue of vidyadharas and invite them separately, without mixing them together. In this way, great blessings will arise. As it is said, there are two ways to practice the vidyadhara guru: common and uncommon. The first is that, in general, it is the source of all goodness and qualities, and in particular, as the root of the path of the Vajrayana, one should approach a qualified guru, and with great respect of body, speech, and mind, please him, and perfectly receive the instructions of maturation and liberation, and obtain the guru's mind treasure, this is reliance. Furthermore, the key to whether or not one can understand the doctrine of the unsurpassable yoga (金刚顶) of the Nyingma (宁玛派) school is that no matter how vast one's learning and contemplation may be, and how perfectly one accumulates purification and external forms, it is not certain that one has grasped the unique doctrine of the path. The guru who possesses the meaning lineage of the Great Perfection (大圆满), who is able to transmit the secret instructions of directly introducing the nature of mind (心性) as the dharmakaya (法身) into the ear, the great spiritual friend who appears in human form with the same karma as oneself, wherever he may be, merely by this quality, one can be regarded as inseparable from the Buddha and attain enlightenment.
