Combining them, three times three makes nine. Among them, that which exists in all homogeneous instances and does not exist in all heterogeneous instances is the nature sign located in the upper table. That which has both existence and non-existence in homogeneous instances and is definitely non-existent in heterogeneous instances is located in the lower table, and is a correct example that can serve as both effect and nature. The two situations that are the opposite of this are the two contradictions placed on either side. The remaining five are uncertain, that is, in the middle, they do not exist in either aspect. The four corners exist in both aspects, so they are uncertain, that is, in the first table, they universally exist in both aspects. In the third, they universally exist in homogeneous instances and have two possibilities in heterogeneous instances. In the seventh, they have two possibilities in homogeneous instances and universally exist in heterogeneous instances. In the last, the ninth, they have two possibilities in both homogeneous and heterogeneous instances. That is, the first three are based on the premise that the sign exists as a pervasive cause in homogeneous instances, and the three situations of existence, non-existence, and two possibilities in heterogeneous instances are combined in sequence. The middle three are based on the premise of non-existence in homogeneous instances, and the distinctions of heterogeneous instances are combined as before. The last three are based on the premise of existence and non-existence in homogeneous instances, and these three heterogeneous instances are combined in sequence. Examples of these are: the first homogeneous instance of the first of the first three is the sky, and the heterogeneous instance is like a vase. Similarly, the second is the vase and the sky. The homogeneous instance of the third is the vase, and the heterogeneous instances are both electricity and the sky. The common homogeneous instance of the middle three is the sky, and the heterogeneous instances are both the vase and electricity. The first homogeneous instance of the last three is electricity and the sky, and the heterogeneous instance is the vase. The second homogeneous instance is the vase and electricity, and the heterogeneous instance is the sky. The third homogeneous instance is the sky and atoms, and the heterogeneous instance is action and the vase, or it can also be consciousness and the vase. Non-tangible or non-corporeal means that there is no mutual obstruction or contact. That is, although atoms are not permanent in our own system, if the views of outsiders are taken as homogeneous instances, it is to show that this sign cannot be established in that respect.
