Therefore, it is only to be understood by those with very subtle minds, as it depends on that. Secondly, if it is not like that, it is too extreme. All investigations require scripture, and individual establishments require the statement of faults. Firstly, when investigating extremely obscure meanings, one needs to rely on scripture, but it is not necessary to rely on scripture in all cases. If it is not like that, the view that all investigations require holding onto treatises is without reason, there is no reason at all. If it is indeed necessary, then those who have no tenets, even those who do not know the name of tenets, such as cowherdesses, etc., would not understand that there is fire upon seeing smoke, because they have accepted that all investigations cannot be conducted without treatises. Even so, the fact that smoke infallibly indicates fire is refuted by external direct perception. Therefore, there is no natural connection between scripture and individuals, so individuals exist independently, that is, they are born alone without connection to scripture. Although there is no connection to scripture from the moment of birth, later, the reason for holding onto scripture is that the merits of knowing that scripture and the faults of not knowing it have not been measured by valid cognition. Thus, even though there is no reason why scripture cannot be abandoned, one clings to one's own scripture, thinking it is the scripture of one's own side, thereby losing freedom. This perverse and evil tenet is like an unbearable demon, disturbing the mind and difficult to abandon. Alas, who has allotted this to your mind? This has become an unbearable punishment for you. Secondly, even if it is not necessary to rely on scripture for ordinary investigations, if the learned ones who assert tenets, when accepting what is to be established, can demonstrate that the treatise itself, which illustrates the example of what is to be established, completely elucidates all the qualities of what is to be established, and can demonstrate that the single reason is not contradictory to this, then the reason becomes a correct reason. Otherwise, without considering one's own position, what would one refute? Or would the reason become a seemingly valid reason? If so, then in some cases, for views that have already been correctly established by their own power, it is not necessary to investigate whether they contradict scripture. Even if it has been established by its own power, but it is said to contradict it

That statement is not a valid scriptural authority. Therefore, when analyzing with reason as the main focus, it is necessary to analyze and demonstrate the relationship of the reason-property that if it does not exist, it will not arise. Because it is impossible to measure the distinctions established as a property of a thing that conforms to people's desire for knowledge, if it is necessary to show an example in order not to contradict all the meanings of the scriptures, then even if the reason can establish one thing to be proven, it is difficult to find the ultimate measure. Therefore, such a way of argumentation is a rule beyond the mundane, a setting that does not exist in the world. Just as relying on reason to understand things, one only examines whether the relationship between the reason and the property is established. When proving it, if other irrelevant properties, such as the nature of emptiness, etc., if that reason is not established, or conversely, if the thing to be proven at that time is not established, then what will happen? If there is no bow, the arrow will miss, without range, can it be said that it missed? For example, if "conditioned phenomena are impermanent" is established by the power of things themselves, then that reason can establish that thing to be proven. If it is said to be a correct argument, but it contradicts other irrelevant things, then how can it be said that the reason for the proof is flawed? Who can say that water is incompatible with fire, therefore it cannot relieve people's thirst? Saying such a thing is foolish. Like this, if all the attributes contained in the thing itself are not completely accepted and displayed as examples, then if people can infer without error from other people's words and smoke, etc., that the other person has consciousness, and infer from reasons such as fire, who can deny this? Because it is established by the power of things themselves, it does not need to depend on others. Second, if it is established through reason, there is no fault even if it contradicts the scriptures. Even if it contradicts the scriptures, it will not change the inference. Therefore, if it is said to contradict this, there is no fault. First, because it will not be confused with what one wants to prove, such as self-nature impermanence, etc., and like the cause is fire, when proving with "conditioned phenomena" and "smoke" etc. as reasons, if some people say that it contradicts the actual situation of things, then the sound is the nature of emptiness, and smoke can also be produced from anthills.
