For this reason, (the author) specifically explains the meaning of the words "intention" and "self-nature." The second part is divided into: explaining the meaning of the word "intention"; explaining the word "self-nature" in detail. The first part is divided into: the main text and eliminating doubts about it. First part: Even if the former debater does not explicitly say it, he believes that everything that should be established is universal, that is, it has become something that should be established, so he said "intention." For example, although one wants to establish that eyes and other things serve others, "others" refers to considering oneself, and one wants to establish that they serve oneself. Therefore, in any case, as long as the reason for establishing is stated, and the thing that one wants to establish, the word "intention" is used to skillfully express it, which does not change anything. Because this is the language stated in order to realize what one wants to establish in one's heart. The second part is divided into: eliminating doubts that contradict the scriptures; eliminating doubts that contradict reasoning. The first part is divided into: eliminating the idea that the word "self" is meaningless, and that the two contradictory statements are unreasonable. First part: If "self-nature intention" is only what the debater himself wants to establish, then there is no difference between the two, because the word "intention" has excluded everything that the debater himself does not want to establish. If the word "intention" has excluded all the intentions of others, then even if it becomes a branch, in the commentary on the Compendium, when explaining the meaning of the word "self-nature," although the debater did not really want to establish something at that time, one aspect of his scripture wanted to be established, then would all the intentions of the treatise authors become the things that should be established by that debater? This is to eliminate this doubt. Therefore, the word "self-nature" is used to distinguish. In the commentary on the Compendium, it says: "Saying 'self' and 'intention' refers to acknowledging in relation to one's own treatise." Second part: If what the debater wants to establish in his heart is what should be established, then there is only one collection of things that one wants to establish in one's heart. Therefore, from eyes and other things serving others, established by the reason of aggregation, sometimes it is the characteristic of the dharma, sometimes it is the characteristic of the subject, if it is said that explaining it as a contradictory reason is contradictory, then it is not contradictory. Because the false reason of the Samkhya school is based on the way the language is combined, sometimes it is the characteristic of the dharma, sometimes it is

Ah, because it can be added to the difference of the subject (chos can), so if that is the case, it is said that the contradiction with that reason is also the same. In most of the examples in the commentary, it is also said that it contradicts the difference of the dharma. Second, dispel doubts and thereby prevent others. First, the intention of the Samkhya is known by the occasion. There are unreasonable points in that intention. If it is not like that, it is too much. First, if the proponent does not directly commit to the proposition as something to be proven, then is it not contradictory to reason to think that the proposition is something to be proven? It is not contradictory, because it is understood by meaning that it has been committed. How is it? Even if it is not said "do my work", it is thought like that in the heart, which is when asking for the proof of the existence of self at the time of debate, it can be known from the presentation of that proof, because that is the time of analysis. Second, in this way, the fact that the eyes and so on do the work of the eternal self is also a fault of not following the example. How did the former teacher Vasubandhu and others say? If the eternal self, which is the name of a conscious being, is called another, then how can the eyes and so on do its work, since the eternal self is not established like the son of a barren woman? For example, even cushions and so on have not been seen to do the work of such a self anywhere, so nothing can be established, as it is said. At that time, for such an intention, that reason is harmful, because it is impossible for a permanent object that is not assembled to do things by assembling, because it is not possible to do benefit or harm, and it is contradictory. Third, if you don't say that you are doing my work, then how can it become the proof of that alone? If in the case of arguing about whether there is a self or not, the proof of the existence of the self is put forward, if that proof is not the proposition, then what is the proposition of that reason? Otherwise, it will become a contradictory reason for establishing what one does not want to establish, or it will only establish what has already been established, and it will not benefit the intention in any way, so it will become fruitless. What is that? The Samkhya says: Eyes and so on are the subject (chos can), doing the work of others, because they are assembled and accumulated, like cushions and mats. This is presented to the Buddhists, because if you directly say that you are doing the work of the eternal self, you will not be able to establish it, so you combine false words.
