Here, if the combination is put together in an easy-to-understand way, then at that time, this very appearance of things is the nature of holding onto it as a valid cognition. Even if it exists, it does not depend on the external of other things. Because it does not depend on the external. That is what is said. So, the apprehended aspect will also not become a valid cognition for external objects, because it also does not actually grasp external objects. If someone asks: Even if it is thought that they do not actually grasp external objects, but for what reason? Just as knowing the nature of blue things and so on, abiding in oneself like that, like that, due to the power of the thought of being manifestly attached to external objects, it is certain that external objects abide as they appear in the mind. And the nature of the appearance of things is awareness, therefore, it itself is considered to be thing-awareness or knowledge. Appearing like this is the mind itself appearing as things, although it is not the naked appearance of the nature of things, it is the establisher or valid cognition of external objects. Because the aspect of things that abides or appears in the mind performs the function of understanding the cause of things. That is because, just as blue and other things abide in the mind, so also external objects can be understood very clearly. Second, in this way, self-awareness will not become a result, because the apprehended aspect itself performs the function of understanding things, just as it was said before that thing-understanding is the result of valid cognition. If it does not perform the function, then it cannot be a valid cognition either, because it does not have the function of understanding things. Furthermore, if it is said that the grasped aspect will not become a valid cognition because it does not make external objects the object, then self-awareness will also not become the result of thing-awareness. Because valid cognition and result are also not considered to be different objects, then in the system of the proponents of things, how is self-awareness established as a valid cognition and result? Establishing external objects is because the apprehended aspect is its nature, therefore, knowing things themselves, appearing as blue and so on themselves, is merely the self-awareness experienced by knowledge itself, although there is no actual knowledge of things, but by intending that external objects are in a hidden form, thereby considering the thing-awareness that looks outward. Because within the scope of the acceptance of external objects, there is no other establisher than this appearance in the mind. Therefore, the object of both valid cognition, the apprehended aspect, and the result, self-awareness, is also not different. The apprehended

If one wonders, how does consciousness cognize the external blue? Merely clearly experiencing the blue itself accomplishes the act of cognition. If asked how to experience it, although it appears falsely as blue and the grasper of blue, when examining the nature of the grasped and the grasper, it clearly appears as the blue itself, which is not established as the object and the subject. Even if one admits that such self-awareness is the existence of an external object, it can be said to be the result. Because the mind that arises in the form of blue has accomplished the act of cognizing blue. Therefore, in the face of the appearance as if external objects exist, although it can be divided into two ways of looking outward and looking inward, and relative to the false appearance, it can be divided into the grasper and the grasped, thus described in different ways, consciousness looks outward, and cannot experience an external object different from consciousness. Since there is no grasper independent of the grasped aspect, the view that the object is consciousness is actually the nature of self-awareness. Therefore, all that is experienced by consciousness is consciousness itself, merely appearing at that time, because it never goes beyond self-awareness in any way. If these distinctions are not clearly distinguished, it is impossible to understand how all consciousness transforms into self-awareness, so careful consideration is very important. Second, regarding the debate refuting that external objects are not suitable as objects of measurement: The object is the cause, therefore it is the object of measurement. If it is not the cause, there is no dispute with the appearance. First, according to the proponents of consciousness with aspects, the appearance in consciousness is not the object, and the object is the cause of that aspect, so only its own cause can be measured, and the external object itself will not become the object of measurement. If one thinks this way, even if the cause is measured, it will not become not measuring the object, because that aspect is the same as or different from the external object's own characteristic, or it can be the same as the imprinter of inner habits, it is undeniable that consciousness itself appears as blue etc. from the power of the cause. Such a cause is also the object, because there is nothing else that can be called an object other than the cause that imposes aspects on consciousness. Because it cannot produce consciousness, like the son of a barren woman etc., it is also not suitable as an object. If there is a grasped object that is not the cause, then it must be simultaneous, because it has been proven that it does not help consciousness, so such an object is not the object of measurement.
