Moreover, the knowing consciousness also arises momentarily. Since both the object of knowledge and the knowing consciousness arise momentarily in succession, letters are gradually understood through hearing, and it is impossible to understand them in a non-successive manner. Therefore, hearing sounds such as letters, seeing forms, smelling odors, etc., when sense consciousnesses see their own objects, even if other consciousnesses that experience the knowing consciousness intervene between the prior and subsequent moments of experiencing the object, all sense consciousnesses that appear uninterrupted become only sense consciousnesses with false meanings. Third: Because the appearance is clear, it is not conceptual mind. Because the continuum is not interrupted, it is not that. First, apart from the confusion of sense consciousnesses, prior objects are connected together, without separately showing their different natures. The non-discriminating confused consciousness is memory, and memory is speech related to conceptual thought, so it is impossible for the self-characteristics of objects such as sounds to appear clearly in it, and they do not exist at all. It has already been said in the past, in the context of establishing that sense consciousness is non-conceptual, that the self-characteristic of the object taken by sense consciousness is not the real object of sound, so there is no combination of sounds. Second: Because there is no interruption, there is no harm. Refuting the establishment of interruption. First, even if sense consciousness sees sounds, etc. as interrupted, if later conceptual thought connects them, then, the appearance of the object and the experience of it, both of these continuums of knowledge appear uninterrupted, but there is no valid cognition that harms them with valid reasoning, so what is the reason for saying that seeing objects is interrupted? It is just an assertion. Second: Eliminating the concern of contradicting direct perception and scripture. First, if consciousness does not know itself, but only knows others, and at the end of the continuum of object knowledge such as blue, relying solely on one consciousness that knows the previous consciousness, it is impossible to know the previous consciousnesses, so after each consciousness that experiences the object, a consciousness that experiences it must arise, and these two cannot arise simultaneously. Because it is certain that the previous consciousnesses have the ability to generate subsequent consciousnesses. If you think so, then, when asked what is the reason for determining that each consciousness has the ability to generate subsequent consciousnesses, if you answer that it is impossible for multiple consciousnesses that experience the object of knowledge and the knowing consciousness to arise simultaneously.
