Therefore, because one relies on negation and what is negated by following the distinct self-characteristics of the objects of attachment, and grasps them as dharmas and entities possessing dharmas, and grasps them as relative, although a single general dharma that has become real does not follow, it is established as existent through imputation. Second, refuting the real and the unreasonableness of it. First, as such, because there is no nature of a genus, therefore, whatever appears before the mind of discrimination by relying on the fact that the nature of the self-characteristic is negated from others, and whatever is imputed as a genus to that cognitive image in which the nature of the external object does not exist, that is, by mistaking appearance and investigation as one, the words of expression thoroughly reveal such things as clear distinctions. For such a general characteristic, appearing as a nature, that is, as if there exists the nature of an object that is different from consciousness, or grasping the self-characteristic of an object as the general appearance itself, that is, grasping appearance and investigation as one, this is confusion. If one asks what cause this confusion arises from, it is the appearance or emanation by the power of the awakening of the habitual imprints of seeing the self-characteristic of an object that is not mixed with other things from beginningless time. Therefore, the so-called general dharma of the self-characteristics of objects, whatever appears to follow all clear things, if one examines it well, is merely the negation of others that are not self, possessing the characteristic of excluding others. If one examines what these words of expression actually express, there is not even the slightest bit of one's own nature that can be independent, because other than the cognitive image, there is nothing different from the nature of the object itself, this general thought is seen as the general dharma itself by the power of thought, and is imputed and clung to as such, and such clinging is also the general thought being confused with the self-characteristic of the object, that is, confusing thought with the object, or, for the general dharma itself that does not exist in nature, one desires it to be the general dharma of the external world, that is, imputation. Such grasping is also merely a delusion or imputation by inner discrimination, and, if one examines it in ultimate truth or reality, the so-called general dharma, because it does not exist as a real dharma that has become the self-characteristic of an object, is not one that possesses a real nature. As such, it exists only as an imputation, and one's own nature is not real, therefore, with the self-characteristics of all dharmas, it is not established as something that can be spoken of as one or different.

That is so. Secondly, it is merely other statements, not general objects. Negating that the entry of sound is the cause of objects. Firstly, if, like the generality of a vase and the clarity of a vase, it is not something that can be expressed as one and different, but like the generality of a vase and the clarity of a cloth, it can be expressed as different. Therefore, there are some such expressions, but it is not established that in all cases the generality cannot be expressed as one and different, therefore it is assumed that objects exist. If the generality is an object, then in all cases, no matter which object it depends on, it must be able to be expressed as one and different. Because all objects are not such that they cannot be expressed as one and different, being able to express it in that way is the nature of objects. Therefore, the generality of a vase and a cloth being expressed as different is not because it is established as different in meaning. Vases and cloths are different objects because of different proximate causes, and the generality established in dependence on that is also perceived as different through the mode of establishment. But in reality, it is not to be expressed as existing in other different objects, because it is merely close examination and close examination by the mind. Secondly, from the reason of sound entering the past and the future, negating that the generality is an object, divided into the object and the negation of that answer. Firstly, for the meaning of the past that has ceased and the future that has not yet arisen, there is also the hearing with the cause of generality, that is, the entry of sounds. For example, the past king was named Ngalenu, and in the future, a wheel-turning king named Dung will appear. If there is such an entry of sound, then the actual object of the sound is the generality, therefore the sound expresses those meanings from the characteristic cause of the generality, otherwise, even if the sound expresses it, it is not reasonable for understanding of it to arise. If, like this, the generality of those dharmas of the past and future is expressed, then according to the view that the generality is an object, how can the generality that exists in the object become the dharma of the past and future objects that do not exist now? Because for something without a lineage or a subject, it is contradictory for the dharma or lineage to be its dharma, because it is contradictory for it to exist in something that does not exist, just like saying that the color of a barren woman's child is white. Secondly, if it is thought that even if there is no generality in the past and future, it is merely the close application of the name of the generality, so it is thought in that way.
