Then, pointing at the self-characteristic of the woolen cloth and saying, "This is it," and at the time of the woolen cloth, each thread of "This is the thread" can be pointed out, then how can the self-characteristic be truly indicated for things that are falsely established by conceptual thought? If you say, "The woolen cloth of those previous threads is this," it merely refers to the fruit that arises later from the previous threads being woven, and then falsely establishes it as one with the previous threads, and that's all that is said. In reality, the previous threads and the current woolen cloth cannot exist at the same time. Because when the nature of the threads has not changed, the woolen cloth does not exist, and when the woolen cloth exists, it appears different from the nature of the previous threads. If that's the case, then how can we establish that "there is woolen cloth in the threads"? Some expressers believe that if the threads as the cause are gathered together, then the fruit can arise, therefore the fruit is falsely established on the cause, but cause and effect cannot exist simultaneously. If they existed simultaneously, then the threads could also serve the function of shielding, so weaving and so on would be meaningless. Or this is the last sentence and the concluding word. Someone refutes: That's not reasonable, according to your statement, when the fruit exists, the cause necessarily ceases, but when the woolen cloth exists, each thread can also be pointed out, so how can the threads and the woolen cloth not exist simultaneously? When the threads are woven and gathered together, the whole thing that appears to serve the function of shielding is the woolen cloth, and if each thread is separated, then there is no so-called woolen cloth. Even so, if "woolen cloth" is taken as the general name for the collection of threads, and when specifically indicating the referent of the word "thread," one part of the collection—the thread—is separated, and based solely on such a reason, it is said that there are threads in the fruit—woolen cloth, then such a statement will appear. This is just like saying "cow" above, it is only said that way because one wants to express it, in reality, threads and woolen cloth do not exist simultaneously. Then, even if the parts—each thread—are manifestly established, but if there is no whole—woolen cloth—apart from these parts, it cannot serve the function of shielding, which is the same for you. Moreover, the name "woolen cloth" will also become a false name for the threads, and before that, the real name of woolen cloth has never been established.

Therefore, the imputed name is also impossible. If the real name of an ox is not established beforehand, just as one cannot impute a name to a saddle, etc. So, are the part threads and the part-possessing pūlu (a kind of woolen fabric) existing simultaneously? It is not like that, the so-called part-possessing and part are established in dependence on each other, but in reality, there is no independent establishment whatsoever. Therefore, the object that serves the purpose of protection, as the object of the term pūlu, exists as a real object. And that is either the collection of threads mutually performing the function of protection, etc., existing as the benefactor and the beneficiary; or the name pūlu is applied to the appearance of threads without any separation, appearing as a whole. This name also generates the knowledge of the object without the illusion of superimposing other aspects. This is also what the designator initially established, so the initial convention is like that, its scope of use or expression is whatever object that serves the purpose of protection, etc., that name is the real name for that object. Therefore, the name pūlu is the real name for the object of expression, not an imputed name, and it is not that it does not serve the purpose of protection, because a single thread is not pūlu. Fourth, there are the brief explanation and the detailed explanation. First, for the establishment of genus, action, quality, part-possessing, etc., which are different from the object, there is no inference to be known, because if the two are different entities, then "this is its genus," etc., cannot be related, because they are different entities, and there is no need for conceptual imputation, because in reality there is no true analogy related to the meaning. If, like the analogies that are considered, such as the one with a stick and the one with horns, the relationship of all these benefactors and beneficiaries is established, it is only the conventional truth imputed by the mind of a person, not that there is a difference between the agent and the object on the object itself. Because the stick and the person are seen separately without any connection, like a pillar and a vase. Even if it appears without interruption, it is only that it appears as such a state of the object, grasping it as a different state. Even for that, for the reason of appearing without interruption, etc., before the connection is imputed by the mind, merely seeing it cannot establish any connection, because it is merely appearance.
