And no thoughts about it arise. Second, like that, establishing the root argument, in establishing its homogeneity, it is harmed by the commitments of other schools. Those cannot be established by direct perception. For those, fame cannot establish. Likewise, there is no inference. First, the understanding that the genus is different from the possessor of the genus is not established, because the common pervasion general measure is established. If you say that, in order to prove that it exists in meaning, no measure can possibly exist, first refuting with a commitment: Whatever is the aspect of the object of the general that pervades many appearances, that also appears as the sound of the name of that appearance, and the color and shape of that appearance. That is not the general that you desire, because you assert that the general of a cow or the cow itself is empty of color, shape, and the appearance of letters, because you have committed that the general is permanent, one, and indivisible. Therefore, abandoning the general imputed on the aspect of consciousness, there is not even a little bit of a thing called pervasion, and that is not a general. Second, whatever combination, the difference of genus is not established. With what combination, congruence and gathering? First, if that which appears in the object of thought is the general that has become the same in all appearances, if you say that. Even if that were the case, that itself only appears in the face of thought, and is not seen in the object of the senses such as the eye. If the eye sees the appearance, and sees a general different from the appearance, then both must appear in the object of the senses, but it is established by direct perception that there are no two appearances in the object of the senses. Since the two objects do not appear, therefore, no matter how you examine it, in the sense consciousness that is the possessor of the object, it is difficult to find a mind that holds the genus and the possessor of the genus as different, like the mind of cloth on a pillar. Second, in the object of the senses, the two do not appear as different, because they have been made one through congruence and gathering, if you think that. Even if the two do not appear as different, if the sense sees the relationship of "this is this," then the sense must also hold the congruence and gathering itself. But the sense does not hold the congruence and gathering, because you also commit that congruence and gathering is not the object of direct perception, but the object of inference. If the sense holds it by direct perception, then the qualities of that thing, such as name and impermanence.

If everything could be known just by seeing, then reason would also be harmed. If the type and the thing possessing the type do not appear as different, and their combination is not perceived by the senses, then the relationship between the type and the thing possessing the type exists only where it cannot be directly seen by the senses. Third part: Eliminating the actual and the doubtful. First point: It is said in the world that "this cotton cloth has wool" and "cows have horns." The reason for saying this is that, as it is said, there is actually a relationship of combination. Otherwise, like saying "stones have wool," the saying would not conform to reality, and combination would not be established. If someone thinks this way, then these words expressing relationships, such as "this cotton cloth has wool," are also caused by the other various reasons, by the expresser's own discriminations, and not because these two are different and combined together. Furthermore, even though the world says "cows have horns," the world does not say "horns have cows." If the word is used because there is a relationship of combination between the horn and the cow, then the horn would also have a cow, because there is no difference in the relationship between the two. If in reality the two have no relationship, then why would one say "a cow with horns"? The word "cow" expresses the living thing with attributes from the horn to the hoof. In the case of "a cow with horns," the word "cow" only wants to express the other parts besides the horn, that is, all the remaining limbs. And all these remaining limbs have no clear distinction from the horn, because the eyes and all the other limbs are attached to that whole, and the horn also seems to be attached to it. This is just the way the expresser wants to express it, and it is not that the cow and the horn are different, and the two are combined together, making them inseparable. Just like when saying "a cow has eyes," the word cow can be applied to the various limbs of the cow other than the eyes, such as walking, but the way is the same. Therefore, how can the "cow" that is different from all the limbs be established in reality? These are just expressions made by discrimination. Second point: If there is no relationship in reality, it is unreasonable. If someone asks where the previous cotton cloth is
